    using wrong decals on pupose

    restoring my boat and want to keep boat looking like its from year it was built(1986)..im repainting cowls but my motors are 2.5's from late 90's, thinking of putting 2.4 bridgeport decals on motors so looks period correct? dumb idea or not??

    sounds good. I like the motor decals to match the boat. Only suggestion would be to make sure the decal isn't marked more HP than whats under the cowl. Good luck on the restoration.

    I like for the decals to match the cowl. When people use the wrong ones, they don't "fit my eye" and looks out of whack to me.

    You should use whatever looks best to you. If you like the BP decals then that is what you should put on there.

    Each decal set has a certain shape and features that fit the cowl they were made for. I'm with TS on this one... The wrong decals just look cheesy... Even if it's something as subtle as a set of big-lettered '89-92 logos on an '81-'87 clamshell.

    Since Bridgeport cowls have become quite scarce, I settled for a 260 cowl for my BP, and had a custom set of color striped made to match the boat.

    How "late"? 260 or 280?
