    Long island stampede poker run

    Long island poker run

The "LONG ISLAND STAMPEDE" poker run is on!!!!!!!!!!!

The committee of the "Long Island Powerboat Club" consists of: Bill Carroll, Chris Ryder, Joe Cibellis, Bill Betz, Joe Sgro and Jeff Cropper, along with the assistance and co-production of Billy Frenz and the National Power Boat Association.

This committee has set out to return a world quality Poker Run event back to the south shore of Long Island.

Poker Run date: Sat, May 17th, 2014
Rain date: Sun, May 18th, 2014

The "Stampede" headquarters will be Bracco's of Freeport.
We will hold a Friday night pre-event party displaying some of the boats and event sponsors.

    The Poker Run Route:
1st Card, 12:00 noon Leaving Bracco's in a Parade fashion to the milling area at the Jones Beach Coast Guard station.

The 2nd card pick up will be inside of the Rockaway inlet. This is a 10 mile ocean run.

The 3rd card pick up will be at Kismet, Fire Island. This is a 26 mile ocean run.

The 4th Card stop will be in Bayshore at Nicky's On The Bay. (Not confirmed at this time. If Nicky's is not available a boat will provide the card pick up.) This is a 5 mile run straight across the bay.

The 5th and final card pick up will be back at Bracco's of Freeport. The return trip will be from Nicky's back to the Fire Island Inlet, ocean run to the Jones inlet, then run in the bay back to Bracco's.

There will be 2 classes to ensure fun and safety for all entrants.

Class 1: Boats 28 feet or larger. Class 1 boats must take the above ocean route.

Class 2: 27 feet and smaller. Class 2 boats have the option of the secondary bay side run.

Both classes will utilize the same card pick up locations and the distance using either route is similar. ALL BAY SIDE BOAT MUST FOLLOW ALL LAWS OF THE BAY including but not limited to speed and no wake zones.

The 2 classes will have individual prizes and entrance fees. Both class entrance fees include:

Boat, driver and one crew member

    Drivers meeting breakfast at Bracco's
Dinner and awards ceremony at Bracco's starting at 4:00pm

    Class 1 : $350 includes 2 crew members
    $50 per additional crew member

    Class 2: $200 includes 2 crew members
    $50 per additional crew member

    Additional crew members receive:

    Awards Dinner

The Poker Run Prizes will be determined by the amount of entrants.

Please register ASAP so we can determine prize amounts, t-shirt quantities, food and give-aways.

Please Visit the National Power Boat Association for registration and more information.

This is very cool. I am looking forward to checking this event out. I'm very curious on the amount of entries that you guys will get. I hope it is a great turn out. There is so much racing roots and foundation here on the South Shore of Long Island that having an event like this will hopefully bring more of it out again and set a strong precedence for the future. It is a pre season event so the waters will clearer then mid season. Just hope the participants have their machines rigged and ready to pound some pistons and burn some octane by then. Its good you are getting the word out now. My best to "The Long Island Power Boat Club" for putting this together and good luck with the event!

we have been very diligent about safety and have all our insurances in place, we came up with plans and routes to help insure it is a very safe event. We will begin to cover all this as we get closer to the event.

Chris, good luck it sounds like a good event in nice waters and pickup locations.
hope for high tide leaving freeport..make it alot easier

We are going to idle a parade lap out of Freeport up the main channel to a staging area right in front of the Coast Guard station so we shouldn't have any problems with water at all. The whole way out of Freeport is plenty deep even at extreme low tide.

Absolutely. This is the real deal they already have approved our routes and surprisingly enough are also excited for this run. They have actually been great and a lot of help. They just want it to go off without a hitch so we can do the run every year.
