Swapping out a 260 for 300xs question
I have sold my 260 and I am in the process of de rigging the motor. I will be making the change to a 300xs. My question is what if anything will transfer over from the 260 to the 300xs? I want to ship anything that I won't need along with the engine to the new owner. I'm planning on keeping the trim pump as I am pretty certain that it will work on the 300xs with the single ram trim. I was going to ship off the fuel pump and the engine harness. The old 260 harness won't work with the opti will it? What about the ignition switch? Will the opti require a new switch?

With a new opti 300XS rig job, I would get a new main harness/key switch and all new smartcraft gauges and gauge harness. The optis give a lot of info on the gauges. The merc throt/shift cables and control's are good stuff too. Put no fuel filter ahead of the motor. Filters on the motor are great.

If your looking to not spend a lot of money just keep what you have and buy the adaptor harness its like $50 and you sane all the rigging time.. If your doing a refit on the boat xstream is right.. The opti will give you a lot of Info.. Smart craft and new rigging will cost u about 13-1400..

I don't want the full opti gauges I would like to keep my current livorsi setup. I have another slower boat that has an opti with smart craft gauges and I do like them, but doesn't the smartcraft speedo ably go p to 80 mph? I was going to add the small sc1000 display where my get gauge is now. Can I run analog livorsi gauges on an opti? It would just be tach, water temp, and water press. That is good info about the adapter for $50 but will I still be able to run the sc1000?

Thanks for all the good info. I found that adapter on line for $56 and I think that along with the sc1000 will be the ticket. Thanks again!
