58' biesmeyer redo
Hey guys, starting resto on 1958 14' Bies with 327 small block V-Drive.
Here is a picture of what I'm starting with, the motor is done, and V-drive has ne bearing. bottom work is done starting on top.
Have trim tab, and all hardware. Here is a picture of the same boat 14' that has been restored. It has a Velvet Drive which I don't have at the time.
Questions: 1. Fuel Tank I have a 5, want Aluminum, or Keg like tank.
2. Velvet drive vs. Direct.
3. Color and upholstery, like candy red and pearl cream, burnt orange.
Actually talked to Bill Beismeyer, he and his brother built this and sent it to someone for rigging., I think it's cool, any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a set up of WCFB but to get them correct is a B*&^CH, can't get step up rods and jets to actually tune three alike, probably go Quadrajet, or twin fours, have to use two 650cfm, and detune
step up and jets. Bill built a bunch of sixteen foots but not very many 14', but he confirmed by the HIN. Beismeyer guys thought I was nuts.
Question: the original fuel tank is approx. 4.5-5 gal. Was this a sprint boat, or a K boat???
that motor wouldn't run to long on 5 gallons.?

Thanks,
Would like to find some used drag boat parts, always amazed by the hardware they wear.
Have looked at Rex Marine, and some others, could almost buy a boat rigged no powerplant and come out pretty good.

Great project I did a 66 donzi these boats were way ahead of their times. Carb wise I stayed with a 4 barrel just one, I remember trying to sync 3 2's and too old to get fustrated. Post more pictures it's not an outboard but definately cool.

Triples and quads look cool, and run okay when they ARE right. Take a single four any day of the week. Usually you see the hickupo or enrichment when you are trying to dock, or load. Then you become one of the ramp jerks.

Hey Bies, this looks like a really cool little 'baby Biesmeyer' & with a SB Chev it probably hauls. When originally rigged, it may have been a 4 banger in it- there was a couple of little v-drives back in that era that had Crosley engines in them! That may account for the small fuel tank, too. Probably not a race boat unless an owner ran it in some sort of class racing program back in the day, but I'm not a boat racing historian. When it comes to used v-drive parts, get on http://performanceboats.com and look thru their v-drive forum- not much you can't find there and on http://www.v-driveboat.com

Thank you. I have an outboard called Fagel its its a four cyl 4 stroke, Crosley set up on end multi carb, and some type of pipe.
In talking to Bill Biesmeyer, he said his brother Rusty and him did build the boat, they were sold unrigged so no telling what combinations could be. My engine has a Chris-Craft flywhell cover/motor mount.
