I beat on my ETEC 250 HO pretty hard an did many many Sag Harbor to Block Island runs as well as many Plum Gut runs an I had zero problems on my 24' SuperBoat. mr. action have you had a different result with your ETEC motor or is this just your opinion?

There's the baby I always loved that boat! I wish I was in position to by your 28 Skater when you where selling it. Liking my new boat a lot but honestly I wanted a Skater I just could not find one in the condition I wanted at my price point......

Well maybe not the fastest..but the fastest stock 2.4L twin 200hp 28' V bottom..so far 72mph GPS. The boat is a very rare Checkmate 2800SX Outboard..I've been told less than 20 were ever built between 1983-1989 with quite a few built as raceboats. Some of the well known raceboats were the factory's Ashland Express, Ocean Outboard & Waterheater. My particular boat is unique in the fact that it was built as a raceboat with a full cabin (the factory called it the Ashland Special) and it was built using AME 4000 resin, factory blueprinted bottom, modified transom for tripple motors, tripple motor pre-rigged, Hynautic Steering, 96 gallon fuel tank and heavy duty trim tabs. The boat was originally raced and then later converted to twins (duplicating Ocean Outboard and Waterheater's raceboat setups) using Gil 24" setback brackets. I'm currently running 18" centers, 25" mids, stock 2.4L Mercs, 26 pitch DAH choppers and Bob's nose cones. The boat has gone through a complete restoration starting with stringers and fuel tank 8 years ago and a new cabin/cockpit the past 12 months.

i love what u did with this boat..would have to wonder what it would run gutted out? have to be touching 80?? still think you cant have 18" centers on motors though..i need a pic with tape measure//lol

Interesting so your opinion is that at 28 or 30 Skater/Cat is gonna out run equally powered Activator or in my case Progression on a Montauk to Block Isand NY run especially when it's rough?

Even if you have a some what experience driver driving the cat, your V bottoms do not have a chance even with 4 HO's on them.... Be careful biting off more than you can chew while trying to compete

Beautiful Rig in your area of Florida are you alone or do you see many boats like yours?

We see some big offshore I/O powered V bottoms (Cigarette, Fountain, Velocity, Apache, Active Thunder, Hustler, etc.) but rarely see twin engine outboard powered sport boats. Most everything around here are twin/tripple outboard powered center consoles (Jupiters, Island Runners, Bahamas, Fountains, Concepts, etc).
