same part# on 2013 and 2007 heads. my 07 is unpainted from factory so I think it is a early 07 build. I have heard only 06 and early 07s were unpainted powerheads. I am thinking maybe exhaust ports are a little higher.

I think Merc does play some games. I have a bud that had three 2004 300X motors on a DCB and they all had 150lbs out of the box. I never heard of this before. If they will do it with an X motor i see no reason why they wouldn`t do it with an opti.

i ran the boat today with the 140psi motor. and I can tell you that there is absoluty no power difference between my 07 motor that has 110psi then this 13 with 140psi. no change in sound, holeshot, midrange or top mph.

When I am next to you and I hear you start the motor up, I can barely hear it run. It's true I'm half deft , but I would think that there would be a little intake noise and certainly a little rumble out of the exhaust. I know they make 300 hp out of those 3.2 's .. but they sure do sound like they are asleep.
I'm sure you could get it to move a little more air in and out . But you will need to come up with at the very least, an adjustable fuel regulator to match the added breathing capabilities ..
Why else would a 30 psi gain in compression net a zero gain in performance .. big cork in it's ^$$

Static compression with an opti is only half the story, what is the air from the air injection doing in each engine? How many PSI? WHEN is it injected vs piston position? How do all those effect the combustion dynamic?

The first thing you need when you're fooling with these DFI engines is a way to look at the tune and what it is doing. Without that you're running blind. The few people that have the capability to turn out high dollar tunes surely don't want to turn it loose for the normal person, although if they did I think there would be a ton of popped motors for them to fix. lol.

The problem with the bulldog programmer… it needs a Flux capacitor …along with your chamber and the plunger valve … it's all too heavy

If I understand my dfi theory. The fuel or fuel air is a atomized cloud. In theory if any surface contacts the cloud condensation can result. Fuel drops burn not bang. Think peeing injector in a car. I'm a car guy who got into an inboard rebuild one day and never looked back. My thinking on a merc dfi is enlarged and blueprinted air bypass and exhaust port work. Maybe boosted air from the injector compressor. Orbitals were originally a attempt at a two stroke car.

Edit: silly me it's not the fuel drop thing. It's the pressure change. More cylinder psi less fuel into the cylinder. To compensate you have to increase injection pressure or pulse width. To much will freeze the opti system. Think airing a tire at 60psi with 40psi on the compressor the tire airs the compressor up not compressor airing the tire. You should if you know how be able too match psi increases without remapping. Cars and diesels do this auto through Mass maf and o2.

    Went lean =pyro temps
back flow = blown fuel rail. Ect.

I can say this with bumping compression in an opti..... ive done it. 250xs heads and 250 xs pistons on a 225 opti with the ecm and rails set up for stocker big chamber heads and flat pistons.... idle is not near as smooth... my motor was STUPID rich as stock its right at perfect A/F now. So it does seriously lean em out. I need ti bump fuel at idle cause it does have a cold miss with 135 psi compression once warm she smooths out. But it does get fuel sensitive and if the injectors arent perfect it will drop a hole from time to time. I just need ti get a ECM and rail assemby from a blown 225xs and swap it over

4-16-2014. 25 years old today... the fishin boat doesnt look to bad for a classic does she

things that were are no longer as they are today...
