What is the best prop for my seaquel 600 xs
Hallo,
I have a seaquel 600 xs build by Gav. I bought it from an other member in the Netherlands a few months ago maybe some of you know the boat with an 300 mercury XS on the transom :P. My old boat was a phantom 21ft and the New one is totally different . I drive it by a 200 hp Yamaha 2.6 carb. with a 1.86 gear case. Boat hull design is with a very large vented notch and i got a manual cmc lift on the transom. torpedo is even keel with the V-bottom
I try lots of props but it is very hard to find the best one. did I need more bow lift our a little stern lift ?
Props I tried:
- 25" Tempest plus 5800 rpm and 109 km-h gps
- 27" Tempest plus 5400 rpm and 111 km-h gps
- 26" Cleaver 6000 rpm and 106 kmh - gps
- 26" 4 blade ron hill signature semi cleaver lap finished 6100 rpm (hit the limiter) and 110 km-h
- 28" Chopper II lap finished terrible on my boat 5200 rpm lots of slip and 107 km-h gps
Tempest plus and the 4 blade signature works the best till now but how can I get more speed? Our is this already the max.
rpm ranch of my Yamaha is 4500 ~ 5500 rpm but I like to run a little bit more for more torque when I drive with more people.
I saw on e-bay some new Ron Hill 28" 4 blade signature's semi cleavers but when I calculate on prop calculator the 26" 4 blade got lots of prop slip but the hole shot and lift is very good . can I get more speed with an 28" ? or only more prop slip and no gain in speed?
Greets from the Netherlands,
Corne

If you're hitting the limiter with a certain prop, then there is room for more pitch. Were you just barely touching the 6100rpm ?
I'd go with a 28P Ron Hill and test, expect the acceleration to be a bit worse, but you'll see more top end.
