The 24 bravo I have has single vent holes and you're right it is mean out of the hole. I just feel like it loses some efficiency between 35-50 mph. I don't want to drill the prop to fix a stall issue, there has to be another way.

The vent holes allow a little air on the blades so it kind of acts like a torque converter, this allows the engine to get to an rpm where it is starting to make HP. The holes have little if any effect once the engine reaches 2500 rpm. That is the best fix.

Thanks for the education Al. I just had the prop balanced and blueprinted yesterday but I'll take it back and have Mike at Skips prop shop in charleston drill it for the plugs. Then I can drill them starting small until the problem is corrected. Thanks again for making yourself available to the group for advice. Obviously, your help saves a lot of us time and I for one really appreciate it!!

I don't think it's a prop issue. I have a 95 200hp Johnson that does the same thing after idling for a few minutes and for me it happens mostly when power loading on the trailer. I know somebody else with a 150 fast strike that the same thing also happens. A prop will not kill a motor so it has to be a fuel or air issue. Timing may also be a issue? Any thoughts?

If you're going to have it drilled, have the holes made to copy the Mercury PVS holes. This will give you the ability to use the different sized PVS plugs that Mercury uses, so you drill once and buy some inserts to try. Also, should you go to sell the prop later, you can install the PVS plug to close those back up, if the next guy wants it that way.

Sound lake a fuel issue to me also. As you stated in your first post you were out for 3 or 4 hours with no problem so unless you made a prop change during that time that your not telling us about this all started during the time you got on plane after the long idle and the time you got on plane prior to that. Check your recirc check valves and also if you have lost any rpm on top make sure a main jet isn't starting to loosen up.

Crazy engine hasn't acted up since that one day. Might have been fuel but I don't believe it due to the fact that I ran the snot out of it a week later with the same tanks with no issues???? I will be keeping my eye on this issue and might vent the prop. When you stab it at idle it goes to 2800 rpm's which I would think (26p. unvented Bravo I) is starting to make power. Any thoughts?

Is this a 3.6 or a 4.0?

660 is a lot of hours. Do you know the compression numbers when new compared to now? Not saying its related to your issue but many more may come up running a tired engine.
