Is anyone running an Atach GPS speedo? (andytach)
A buddy is looking for a GPS speedo and I ran accross these on ebay. I was wondering if anyone has used one of these GPS in the boat yet? I have read about a few jetskis and jetboats using it with great results. Looks like it does everything we need and more then the Livorsi at 1/3 the price.
Looks like the company Andytach makes small tachs for everything from RC cars to dune buggy to snow mobiles. The company has great feedback on ebay, not one complaint about the item itself.

I was looking at the Speedhut GPS speedos - they look to have a little better face IMO. I wonder if that one reads in tenths above 100 Kev?

No I dont think they do. But neither do 3/4 of the hand held I have seen.
For $180 shipped its gotta be better then a hole in the dash, I'd like to hear some first hand experience. I dont want it to quit after 6 months like the old nordskogs used to.
I just checked out the speedhut gauges. Not bad, pretty affordable, USA made and a warranty. They are quite a bit more then the Atach since the antenna is another $50 so that puts them at $310+shipping vs $165+ shipping. Let me know if you try one

Well my norskog is still working great after five years (knock on wood) so I'm just doing research now for when the inevitable happens.

Yea they look better then all of these and are great while they work. You must have one of the good ones. All the gauges in my friends boat are nordskog but the GPS have a bad wrap so hes looking for something that somewhat matches and will survive.
I asked the seller if a recall would work. He just answered and said there is no recall but doesnt know if one of the external ones will work or not.

i am not sure if my experience is apples to apples here but I installed a tachometer that is visually the same as these Andytach units on my golf cart.
The tach is so slow responding that it is only useful in a steady state condition, which is pretty useless for tuning a belt drive.
If the speedometer is as slow responding as the tach is it would wait till your speed is stabilized before the display reads.
Faria has a GPS speedo on the market now.Regards,

I have two of the AndyTach tachometers and run them on our little circle race boats and they work great, ours are responsive so it must be the manufacturer of the brand. They are straight off the boat from China thou, just customized with the AndyTach name from some contract manufacturer.
Cheers,

Just ordered a speedo/compass/odo combo from him for my Astro FSX... Looking forward to seeing how it works! Anything has to be better than the OEM one.
