300xs issue
Hey guys I've got a 2012 300xs I'm having trouble with, I can take off hard and get up to speed like normal then after about 45 seconds the rpms drop off and it revs erratically. it seems like it's not getting enough fuel, could it simply be the fuel filter? No alarms are going off and there is 100 hrs on it. I'm going to try a new filter in a few days but wondering if anyone else has had similar trouble, hoping it's simply the filter and it starts starving when it's pulling hard through the filter. Doesn't have troubles when I'm cruising at half speed. Any info/help would be much appreciated

May sound irrelavant, but what is it on and do you have the stock cowling? Check the insulation
above the throttle body on the under side of the cowl. It has a tendency to fall off, get sucked into the throttle body and starve the motor of air. Check this first,

Anything after that, you will need a DDT and a gauge to check the fuel rail pressure and air pressure.

Good call on the cowl liner.
Could also be a coil dropping.
Get it to someone with a CDS and do miss fire test at the RPM where it is dropping

Sounds like a coil dropping out. Just had this happen on one of mine. Cruising at 3800 rpms it would drop to 3400 then rev back up 30 seconds later. Checked all the plugs and one looked slightly wet and had what looked like a fuel stain on the ceramic part. Changed that coil and everyhting was back to normal. Prior to changing the coil I took apart the VST and pulse pump and checked all the screens and diapragms and everything looked good. Mine is a 2007 though, I thought they had the coil issues worked for the newer ones.

Fyi- those filters can be found for under $20 each on ebay, stock up when you find them.

There is a pirate version of those filters that you need to stay away from.
Buy the Merc one then you know you are safe, they are expensive but not worth the hassles of the cheaper ones
