Motor 2.4....undecided on hp yet

Evinrude 85 horse 4 cylinder 2 stroke (I love this old school) Very simple engine.
I move the boat around on the trailer by hand. That's how light this boat is. Tote it to the lake with a Nissan Murano SUV.
Easily does 50ish mph as she skids across the top. I'm not experienced enough or brave enough to go over that. (Big Smile)
Thanks for asking.

So I thought I would share a little project I have been working on. Not the fastest for sure (but it has potential). It is definitely old and unique. A long story short, I used to be a huge water skier, big correct craft fan, had an accident, broke my neck and can no longer ski. Wanted to build the Worlds Fastest Correct Craft, so I found an old Bass Nautique. Brought it home, cleaned it up and found a nice little Bridgeport to run on it. After re-rigging it runs really nice right up to 70 mph and like clockwork she starts to chine walk - HARD!
My neighbor races Allison drags and for fun he drove it at Blarney's, with a 24P Yami Drag it ran 72 mph in 800 feet. The motor is old, compression is down 20 PSI in two holes with leak down losses around 15%. The plan is to rebuild it over the winter, and then start playing with props to see where it will top out. Then I'll put the trolling motor and batteries back on and it will be come not only the fastest Correct Craft but a boat to spend some time fishing. Eventually I'll also try to bring back some of the shine. Here are some pics and a video.
When I bought it:

Great shots….Just from the photos it looks like you could use more set back and less trim to get engine / prop at a neutral angle, that should give you more speed . Great looking rig!

Happy to assist in pointing the conversation up above 116mph... Error Lanier's Fastcat is the fastest boat on water today... and has the largest fishing area of any boat in its size. It loves the chop and is stable at speed when the V-hulls are getting scary. Look for Lanier Marine. Something good is happening over there.

First thing I would suggest is 1.87 gear and a better prop..
