Hey have you had a chance to test the vent hole effect on a loaded takeoff? If you did did it help?

Oh yes it did help once I let my motor down a little. Mine was too high the day Mike and I went out and my prop/s lost grip bad on breakover. However I'm no longer "stuck" to the water. It's hard to believe that without one the holeshot suffers on my boat.
I also had a severely retarted low speed/idle timing issue, and need new plugs. I have my cherry picker together now and have the area under the back of my boat prepared but I haven't gotten around to changing out my Jackplate as of yet. I've just not had time. Also I wanted to wait to be sure I didn't want to take her out one more time before changing out the Jackplate. I also have one other problem, due to my lack of a shed or Garage, my cherry picker is inside my home. I'll need help to get it outside, lol!1986 20 ft. 8 in Shadow Tunnel Vee

Well, glad ya found the problem. Know what was wrong with mine? Combination of motor too high, water in gas tank, and severely retarted low speed/idle timing. That's why it wanted to stall when I put it in gear. However that same day after changing props over to my HPD (Hoss Hyperdrive -the one I picked up and showed you when you asked if prop on motor was my usual) She did hook up and plane off easier. Anyway lowered 1 inch and no more cavitation until she actually does break over like she's supposed to, however that will all change by next weekend with a little luck that nothing pressing comes up between Wednesday and Friday.
I have cherry picker together, purchased three 5/16 fine threaded bolts and washers yesterday for motor hook. So now all I gotta do is get the cherry picker outside which I'll have a neighbor help me do, and I'll be changing JP this week. I can't start on it today cause I have obligations but tomorrow and rest of week are mine to work on my boat. I hope to have the new one in before the weekend.1986 20 ft. 8 in Shadow Tunnel Vee

New Hydraulic Para - Lift Jacplate Installed!
Well, got my new jackplate mounted and everything bolted up yesterday fella's, and am happy to say everything came out great. The only thing left to do now is to run the wiring and mount the control switch. The best news was all tests indicated my transom is in super condition, and has no wood in it for coring, -yay! I sealed everything up with 5200 outside and in, and am very happy with the results. Of course here are a few photo's of the new JP in place on my Shadow.
I give special thanks to Corona Mike, for without that motor hook I'd have had a hard time getting this done, thanks Mike!Last edited by Allyda; 02-25-2014 at 02:30 AM.

Allyda, good job man. Did you have enough steering cable? It looks like its stretch out. We got most of the rigging done in the past few weeks. All is left is the gauges and put the gas tank back in. Maybe in a couple of weeks l'll be ready test and tune.allyda. On your 4 blade prop,do you think that's is one best for fishing load?

Yes I had plenty of cable and steering was not affected. Now I just have to run the wiring harness and mount the control switch.
As for fishing props, my best is my 4 blade Hydromotive Intimidator Quad 4 "CR". You don't want the "X", it's the Bravo copy and they work best on 300's. The "CR" is rthe semi cleaver design. Here's a photo of mine: Best prop I've ever run right out of the box!1986 20 ft. 8 in Shadow Tunnel Vee

Thanks, for everything. Now I just have to run the wiring harness for it and find a way to mount the up/down switch. I'm also contemplating using a gauge with it until I get used to it. Since my motor has a bad trim sending unit, I can use the trim gauge that's currently not in use for the jackplate.

so i managed to burn a piston in my my purple motor(235 x-flow) last friday, probably had a too much timing in it!i never could make that motor perform the way i wanted anyway!for the time being,i have put my flat back gt motor back on.so i picked up a 2.6xp this weekend for a song.has one burned up piston but the block still looks great.came with a new piston and gasket kit.everything is there, except for the original lower.the #1 piston munched a ring and really did a number on the head.i would just as well repalce the head, but these heads are getting really tough to to find,so i might try to fix this one.anybody got any ideas?
