Well, while it might make steering less stiff at high speeds, I don't drive that fast all the time. At around 50-55 mph it steers almost as easy as my truck does. It's only when I get in the upper 70's that steering gets a little hard. But even then I can easily control my boat and of course, I let off the throttle when making turns. I'll wait til my next re-power and get a hydraulic unit. I'm currently looking at a 225 Yammy HPDI that needs it's powerhead rebuilt or replaced. If I can swing it I'll take my time rebuilding it while I run the motor that's on her for the next year (and there's also the XB21 I'm looking for for my next project).

I did just recently aqquire myself a new digital wireless Motorguide V75 trolling motor. Man it's going to be nice when I get it here and get it installed -no more straining my legs, and I can control it from anywhere on the boat. Know anyone who needs a working MG Tour 82# that needs a little TLC? I'll be placing it up for sale soon.

As you may know from reading the threads on here, I have an 86 kevlar hull Shadow 20' 8" Tunnel Vee powered by an 86 200 XP looper. My boat was also built in Friendsville Tennessee. On the Starboard side just after the large "Shadow" logo mine has a name (too faded to make out) and inderneath it it says "Worlds Fastest Bass Boat" (also a bit faded but I expect it to come out more when I start buffing). This is only on the drivers side. I'd really like to hear if your Father can shed some more truthful light on my boat's history?

I'd also be much appreciated if you'd let me know if the notch (in the rear between the transom and pad) on yours is vented with your rear livewell overflow exit as most Shadows newer than mine I've seen are (mine's not vented and it seems like I get stuck to the water for a few moments when planing off, so I'm thinking of putting a vent in. Right now my rear livewell overflow exits on Starboard side underneath the "S" on logo).

I can get low 80's with mine with just me aboard, 1/2 tank of gas, and a light tackle load of 10 rods/reels, my personal tackle bag, and 1 small coleman cooler (I use boats cooler between seats for storage & extra Starter I carry aboard), running my HOSS Hyperdrive 15 x 28p. 3 blade (I have a 14 x 28p. Triton too but haven't had chance to run it yet). With my 4 blades I get mid to upper 70's.

Oh, if you don't mind I'd like to see some photos of your Shadow especially your bilge area if you can?

If you'd prefer to PM me with the info that's OK.

I appreciate and thank you in advance for any info you can provide.

I'm Gong To Say It Was Some Time 84' Or Possibly 85...86' The XB2002 Came Out...End Of Shadow Being "Worlds Fastest Bass Boat" Funny Thing Was, Every Shadow Had In Great Big Stickers "Worlds Fastest Bass Boat" On The Side. I Think They Ran 101 (+/-) Can't Remember Exactly. As Far Sa Where...From What I Remember It Was In Knoxville. They Lost The Record In Both Clewiston In 86', And Worse In Knoxville In 87'

Someone is gonna need ta "show me". World Records come with PAPER WORK period. They're set with clocks and timed not with a bunch a good ole boys and radar gun. I've even seen where it was tha 18 footer with some kinda wild Suzuki motor that he has in his garage. I've seen Laser, HydroStream, HydroSport, and even Stratus "on tha books" but nowhere (apba, uim, noa, aoa etc.) have I seen Shadow..........Its always been a thread "story". Show me and I'll gladly "YEILD"..........just sayin'.

I Don't Exactly Know Who Would Have Paper work...I Believe But Can't Remember Exactly... Louis Collins Name Comes To Mind. Boat Was Red And White. Couldn't Walk On Any Decks, Rod Lockers Were Paper Thin But IT DID! Set A NOA Record. Like I Said, 1984/1985 Years Come To Mind. I Saw The Boat In Clewiston. XR02'Handed It's $hit To it! If I Remember Correctly, Mr. Collins Helped Start The Shadow Boat Company. They DID Sneak Up On Everyone And Set A Record. Didn't Hold It Long But, I For One, Give The Devil It's Due...Just Not For Long. BTW. Darris Can Tell You All About It! In Knoxville We...Rick Sissle And Me...Destroyed That Record! Ran 111.944 With A Stock 2.4 Mariner. Heads Had NEVER Been Off The Motor! Since It Came From The Factory! BTW, It WOULD Run Faster Than That! Glen Reynolds Ran 114++ With A Modified Motor. NOA Would Allow Any Coned Case As Long As It Shifted. The "Jacos Boat" Had A 96' drag On It Which, APBA Wouldn't Allow Any Gear Case Mods...It Ran A CLE So, The Record It Set Was Some-What Less Than The Boat Was Capable Of In My Opinion. Funny Thing Is, Couple Of Years Back, I Ask The Question Was There Any Difference In The OLD XB02's And The Newer XB02's...Nobody Knew! There Was! The Older Boats Were MUCH Lighter...Full Of Balsa!... Less "Pad Lip", And The Floor In Front Of The Rear Seat Dropped Down About 4". Plus The 1st XB02's Were All VERY FAST!! My 95' Model Boat Is O.K. But, With The Horsepower It Has, It Should Be WAY Faster... The 1st. Ones, With Current Motors...260's/280's And Heaven Forbid, A DRAG! Hell No Tellin' Just How Fast They Would Be! But, Long Story, In My opinion, Louis Collins Most Likely Has The Proof That A Shadow DID In Fact Hold A NOA Record...If Just For A VERY Short Time!!
