racer7x, did you buy that boat? Been looking at the varmints for years and always thought they were cool little boats.

No I didn't buy it. He has no title on boat, motor, or trailer. As you probably know, Missouri sucks when it comes to registering or licensing anything. If I can figure out what to do about that problem I may still buy it. Can't beat the price. I think he still has it.

I know what you mean. Belong to a bunch of Facebook Missouri boat classifieds and seems like just about everyone on there has a boat that has no title.

ID:	380360Still have the Bullet... but stumbled up on this 2014 Nitro Z9 that needed a motor. I put a 300 ProMax on it that I was not running and dialed it in to almost 80 gps. Not as fast as the Bullet but a fantastic fishing platform . This thing gets it for a full size tourney rig.

You're right on point. During the early-1970s BASS had a tournament on a Corps flood control reservoir in North Mississippi where several over-powered tri-hulls sank during a high-wind-n-rain event.
That was about the time when Bill Dance moved to Jim Epps and his then-new ProCraft v-hull bass boat line snd Ranger began some major design changes. And BASS began rethinking horsepower restrictions for its tournaments...

You guys talking about Bumble Bee boats, I had a 290, had a 3.1L yamaha on it and a buddy of mine and I, Tom Caruthers, put a stage 3 Hydrotec kit on it with a bobs cone on the yamaha lower. that puppy would roll pretty well if you could keep gas in it. I now have a stroker with a 300xs hung on the back with a 16 inch set back. Had a dirt dauber cause tons of problems about to resolve that so I can get that 300 buzzing again. I remember a guy in Jackson that had a shadow that would scream in the early 90's, new knew what happened to that boat......

Nashville-based Hydra Sport made a smallish 15-16' with a centered console moved forward, apparently to compete with East Tennessee's Allisons. Most that I recall had a 150 OMC attached and at least two pairs of goggles for the occupants... Wish I could find a photo.

In the late 1970's BASS had a 150 horsepower max limit on the transom at their sanction tournaments.

I was told, it was a safety & insurance measure to curtail top end speeds.

360 degree hairpin turn, not recommended for casual drivers.
