91 2.4l 175 how do i make behind the liner, or some power either way
i have a 91 2.4l i am rebuilding, iv been searching this forum and figure i have a fatblock 2.4l i was going to port the pistons and put it back together with a bridgport front half, flywheel, carbs heads etc... but have read the best way to make power with this block is too make it "behind the liner" like a 2.5L ,, if i find a stripped 2.5l block will i be able to copy the porting and grind out my 2.4 accordingly or is there WAY more to it.. when i started this project i just wanted it to run,, but now that im reading maby a 2.0l would be a better daily driver, and this fatblock 2.4 powerhead could make some ponies for the weekend

2,4 fatblocks are already good daily drivers, that's what xr4's are, and they are basically factory 175's.

There was a fat block XR4 and a fat block 175. The porting is different between the engines and so are the carbs. I have both here. I have thoughts of building a behind the liner 2.4 along with a 7 pedal front and XRI injection. I also toyed with the thoughts of cutting 6 blank OMC sleeves and making it a behind the liner Bridgeport XRI injected. Then I remember I have NO TIME! LOL!!! Also the BP front is a small center main bearing and would not work on the large bearing block you have. You would simply need to use a 2.5 front if you plan on a 7 pedal engine and remove the block dowel pins If you cut it like I did you will not need to modify the pistons. If you copy a 2.5 block then the pistons and sleeves will have to be further modified. This is one I done not too long ago. Just My experiences.....

NOPE. If you are going to run carbs.
