Cannot find source of leak on trim????
I have a 99' Opti that was put on with a new powerhead, got all bugs worked out but now I have a very small leak of trim fluid that is dripping from the bottom of the trim assembly. The ram seals are dry, no leak from fill cap... It collects at the union between the big center ram and the stationary trim assembly. Where the big stainless "pin" runs through the lower ram. It's pink in color so I'm fairly certain it's trim fluid. I looked at the top of the trim motor the best I could and see no wet areas around it also. Can anyone give me a few more ideas??? Thx in advance.

Clean and dry it,spray the area with foot powder the leak will show up right away. You can't see it cause its black on black. The powder will show oil instantly. That method is used on aircraft.

That stainless pin has seals (Orings) that seal fluid passages between the stationary portion of the trim system and the big ram that pivots. The leak may be between the pin and big ram or the main fixture where you saw the fluid collecting.

Yeah, there is pin on the port side that must be driven out to allow the pivot pin to be removed.

a lot of times the trim pump itself leaks by its own seals in the pump and no fluid will be visable as it leaks back to the resevoir IE when its extended the fuild is in the main ram cylinder and the pump itself does not hold the pressure and it bleeds down . pump is under the trim motor and is a seperate unit on your model

The reservoir is not under pressure.
You say the fluid is pink. It should be red ( its Automatic Transmission Fluid ATF). Pink = water contamination.
Check the fluid in the reservoir for color and fill level.
There are oring gaskets between the pump housing and base assembly, pump housing and motor, bottom of the reservoir to base assembly....
Check that all hardware holding motor to base & pump are secure,
I've had to replace the oring due to a missing motor screw on a 60hp.

What I said was "pink" I guess I should of said red, it's still clear, not milky whatsoever. I checked those top motor bolts, they all look good and snug. I also ran a rag around where the motor bolts on to see if I could get alittle on rag... Came up clean. Oh well, I'll just keep a eye on it and make sure it does not get any worse. May do something during the winter down time.. Thx all
