Evinrude 4L V-8 ported and plugged

Question - I recently acquired an 89 22 SST with a ported and plugged V8. I am trying to find information about the power this thing will make and at what RPM it makes it. From the information I have the engine work was done by Mr. Stoker back when the boat was new. I pulled the heads over the weekend just to satisfy my curiosity about the condition of the engine and it's damn near perfect as far as the cylinders go which should be an indication about the condition of the rest of the engine. It has 640 hours on it. Can anyone tell me what the bronze colored area right above the relief port is. If I'm thinking right the sleeves are steel right???? Also, what should the compression be on this engine with the relief ports plugged and the port work done?

Looks like a little surface rust.

Racer AKA Stoker will hopefully chime in soon

I would talk to racer...he is the one that built it and is likely they only one that knows the exact answers to your questions...
