Just speaking off the cuff, but I'd look particularly into how well the stamped sheet metal structure and ind rear susp would handle the weigh and/or emergency stops.. Corvettes generate a lot of braking force, and that area back there would feel the brunt of a 17' checkmate that can stop fast as a corvette..

I put a one on a 89, mainly to pull a small utility trailer with the Harley on it. It was a Reese, with a flat bar receiver rated at I think 2000 lbs pull. No problems with that so I took the Enticer to the ramp, the shallow ramp did not work very well. Vette would have to get to far out in water to launch, so make sure you have a somewhat steeper ramp.
Was in NC at a bike rally and there was 91 or so in the parking lot of the hotel with an enclosed trailer behind it that looked like way to much. So I ask the guy how does it perform? He said he had been up and down the entire east coast with it, no problems.
The off the shelf hitch that I purchased would not fit exactly, so I had to do a little shaping with a hydraulic press.
It will work, good luck!

Know this is an old post but had to comment our 64' that was left to my son when father in law passed away has hitch on it. 327 4speed looks kinda cool on the old gal.
