I LOVE "redneck engineering!" The mechanical water temp gauge went south on my jacked up K5 Blazer. Knew I had one in my stash somewhere. Found it, but the cable was way too long. Bought what needed, but had a brain fart for the old long one. My "dogs boat", 20 footer with a 125 Force..(runs fine still, after 25 years!) It has twin small holes back the mid. Will shoot water and exhaust at idle, on plane, its all engine water now. Bolted up the end the gauge there, ran the cable along side to the dash. Mounted the gauge. Tried it out.

DAMN! Perfect! Runs 140° at idle warm, 135° on plane. So a quick glance will tell me if the motor is getting cooling water. Even running in salt a few years now, still works great!

Last weekend I had to weld a split on the underside of my sons tail pipe where it goes over the rear axle. The overhead winch lifted the rear with no problem but to be safe.....er, I rolled the work bench under the frame. I'm still here!!!!

Here's the old photo of the hillbilly jackplate incident. The motor was actually clamped to the steel transom pieces.
