Vensura or Trophy? What are the differences
Currently running a 19"P three blade 14" dia. Only getting to 4900RPM at WOT on a 19' Fish and ski. I am using the boat mostly for towing wakeboards or tubes. I want to go to a 17"P four blade and am looking at either the Trophy or the Vensura. What are the recommendations out there and does anybody know the differences in these two designs? Thanks.

What rpm you looking for? normally drop 300rpm for every 1-2" inches in pitch but your way low in rpm so dropping one size could give you a big rpm gain.

Vensura isnt a very popular prop on any boat. Very small blades and doesnt carry well. Merc first called it the Offshore then changed the name.

Some years ago I set up our local Coastguard boat with two 150hp Merc efi's. With the props which came with the engines we could hardly trim the engines at all before they would cavitate.
The two three bladers were swapped for two four blade offshores. They absolutely transformed the boat, I could run those props at max speed and max trim with no cavitation. I thought the offshores were awesome in that application. I did note that Merc changed the name for some strange reason.........Wellcraft Nova 230 XL, 300hp Johnson.

When you ran the Trophy, did you run a ring to seal the gap between the hub and the lower unit?

I am buddies with Ken Reeves who owns PropGods. We talk prop all the time and all he does is test test test props. Overall, the Vesura is the prop out of Mercury's line he sells the least of. Not that it isnt right for some applications but just not common. You could call him and talk about your setup. He does have a prop testing program that very cool.13' Biel tunnel AKA "Flight Risk"
