Reinstalling exhaust can, power loss??
I've never had a can in any of my midsections so I didn't know how quiet one of these engines actually were until my buddy brought his stock 175 2.4 out to the lake. It was nice to be able to have a conversation while the engine was running. I want to pull mine apart to put a can in it but will I loose any power? It would also be nice to not constantly be melting that plastic guide to line up the water pump hose back into the water pump.

Might loose a tad out of the hole but if its you 2.0l 175 you wont notice a thing.

The engine is a 2.4 200. If I remember hearing correctly I can drop the lower unit trim the engine up and take the mid off while leaving the power head on the boat with the top engine mounts. Is that correct??

yes ya can to it like that and its a good idea to have the lift ring as support. like i said though you have to be runnin the one piece tunner
the back few bolts on the tuner, bottom mounts, the lower keeper ring on the steering yolk and she will fall, fast

or if ya are runnin the one piece adapter just un bolt the back bolts and the two allens through the steering arm lift the motor out of the way and slide it in that way which is prob better

Lol. OK. Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully I can get some time this weekend to swap mids and add a can along with make a torque tab on my lower unit. I really should put new reeds in to get a smoother idle but I might wait until the off season for that. I also have a intake spacer but I don't know if that will fit under my xr6 cowling.

True but I would prefer to run the carb cover to recover the fuel spray back. I have several different style covers. I'll have to measure them and see if one might fit. I'm surprised this engine is still running as well as it is for all the crap I've put it thru.
