93 Yamaha PRO V 200 Bogging during Acceleration

I purchased a 20' bass boat with a 200 Pro V on it. Been having trouble with the hole shot. Motor idles good and runs 5800 RPM. The compression is 118-120 on all cylinders and the leak down is about 10%-12% on the cylinders. Seems to be bogging on takeoff between 1800-3000. Any suggestions??? The oil injection has been removed and running Amsoil. Carbs have been cleaned two times and carbon reeds have been installed. I'm currently running a Yamaha 14 1/2 x 25M propeller.

Have you figured this one out? I have the same problem and same motor.

    Thanks,

I changed props. Went to a tempest plus 25p. It needed more sprop slip during acceleration. I have one large pvs plug and all the others out. It spools up to 3100 rpms and goes. Its a great prop. See if someone can loan you one for testing.

I wonder if I'm running too much prop? Triton sf21 (1700lbs empty) Yamaha 200, Yamaha 23" prop., no jack plate. I'm turning 5400 rpm's at 57mph. According to the prop calc I used thats 10% slip. I dont know if thats good or not. Once I get past the short bog it gets out of the hole pretty good. While I'm at it do you guys have a good method for removing a stuck prop, because I have one?

    Thanks,

    Mitch...

Yamahas and really all motors like as much timing advance before they start to get fuel and air. Make sure you have at least a 1/8-1/4 in gap between the throttle cam and carb linkage. It could also be a little lean off idle. Try 1/4 turn in on idle jets. I find with our reeds they like about 1,1/2 to 2 turns out.

Thanks Stan I'll check it out. I have noticed that when just hammer it instead of easing it on plane I don't notice the bogging nearly as much.

    Thanks,

    Mitch...
