    1980 Merc 2.4 PLEASE HELP

Hello everyone! I just bought an outboard for my hydro stream viper.. the ad i read in the paper read as follows.. "1980 Mercury, mod vp motor, rebuilt 2.4, boysen reads, bobs, tuner, solid motor, mounts, CLE lower unit, $1400...

Ok now...There are 3 double barrel carbs, the fuel line enters the top carb and flows to the middle then bottom. on its way from the middle to the bottom it tee's off to a really small fuel line.. then just stops.

Coming off all three intakes wich would normally be vaccuum lines is that same color same size fuel line and just stops over by the tee off...... my question is what am i missing???? if i Were to connect the two lines the fuel pump would just load the cylinders with fuel. there would be nothing to regulate it.... my guess is some kind of electric choke module of some sort... can anyone locate me some helpful diagrams, or pictures? I cant find anything anywhere and the guy at the marine outboard shop down the road said he wouldnt even look at it because its got after market parts......hmmmm i guess my money isnt green!

First ?. Is tha block, front half and reed plate black? Tha three fittings on tha port side of tha reed plate should be tied together with a fuel type/size hose going nowhere but to each other but tha top and center should also have a small bib stickin' out with bleed line type/size hose going to tha center mains...........

Go here ta start with. lotta "junk" there with lotsa pictures of what some think are hot rods but aren't. There is ONE portside picture showing what I was sayin' 'bout tha fitting/lines in question. Is your motor "painted"? If it is there's a good possibility its not what they say. Ya got any pictures of it. http://www.google.com/search?q=mercu...w=1093&bih=538
