Stable but Crazy-Fast Bass Hull Design?

I plan on putting a 200 hp outboard on a 17' bass boat. Looking for it to be crazy fast but as stable as possible. We have a 1991 kingfisher 17' with a 115 yami (which would be swapped for 200) or a 1992 Shadow with a 175 Johns (swapped as well). So... Since hull design is everything when reaching those speeds, wondering if anyone has any experience with either/both of these hulls? I know we could get an allison or bullet, but, it would be so nice to have that 200 hp (did i mention it has an alien cowling) on an older boat and blaze by anybody with a newer boat and w/a 150-175 hp motor. Not to mention much-much cheaper.

You just don't see a lot of 15-17' with 200's on it. Wonder why??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

I'm thinking mid to high 70's. Maybe even low 80's, who knows?

What part of the country are you in? I just did a lot of this research, but ended up slightly larger boat than you are looking for. You should look for a Laser LTV bass boat at that size range, they are just under 18 ft. The LTV bass boats aren't the easiest to find though. Is the shadow you have access to the tunnel-v? The Laser v-hull bass boat may put you where you are wanting too... The 3880 or smaller 2550. I ended up with shadow 200vt that needs a lot of TLC, but almost went with a little Laser that is near me. Just my .02....

Thanks for your reply. Any "cents" are welcomed. Ha. The shadow does not have access to the tunnel. I'm located in south Mississippi. Trying to figure out what design would handle those speeds the best. Don't want it blowing out, skidding or chine walking at those speeds. If it does, it might not be such a good day on the water. Ha
Going to give those lasers a look over.

    thanks

The lasers look nice. Like you said, they are kind of hard to find. The kingfisher is a nice fishing boat. Just don't know if the hull design itself would handle the speed. As for the Shadow, I heard some of them (in the past) suffered from transom issue. If so, not sure that would be the best platform for the build.

    thoughts?

You talking about a aluminum bass boat, crazy fast would be a Allison bass boat period. Something you have to fly not drive.

Talking about fiberglass boats. Maybe crazy fast is inaccurate. Ha 120mph is crazy fast. Thinking more along the lines high 70's low 80's. cruising in the mid sixties. Would any of those hulls handle it??

I hate to be the barer of not good news but the Kingfisher hull does NOT behave at high speeds. I KNOW this for a fact. I helped a friend try to tame a 17 or 17 1/2'ftr down and no matter what we did she wouldn't behave. BE CAREFUL or better yet get a Laser,Ally, or a Bullet. You gotta look around but there out there shoot even a hydro sports venture or older procraft is a better candidate
Laser 1550 ...under construction with a serious weight loss
    Motor 2.4....undecided on hp yet

If you want an old hul that will run like stink, find an old Glasstream 18 footer. Properly set up they'll run mid 70s with aan XR4 or Magnum. I've seen them in the mid 80s with 200s. And they will handle the speed.
I carry a gun because a cop won't fit in my pocket.

The King fisher set up properly can do what you want. Bolt the motor high and do not use a jackplate.

    Hmmm, I wonder what model.

I wonder what Model that KFisher was. Let me say...of course, that's why Im here...The particular KFisher we have is an 169XL - 16' 9", obvious. Was told...by the owner, (bass fisherman) that this particular hull was made similar to those race designs that had padded bottoms, in that era (1990). The boat has a 125hp rating on it. We have a 115 yami, which pushes it a very comfortable 51 gps, full fuel, two people - all fishing gear, no jplate, and 19 pitch 3blade. Very stable. My old 17' xpress, aluminum hull - 90 merc, was unstable (felt like floating), 43 gps. So, I guess the biggest thing is...Im interested if any one knows about these hulls in particular or any other that can support some predictability. I've seen other 17' KFisher, but not quite sure if their bottom is the same. I'm looking for some stability (if you can say there is, when you're disobeying the engineers who rate them).
