    300 promax to 300xs question

Is it possible to put a 300xs power head on a 300 pro max mid? I'm sure it wont line up correctly or will it? And if not, can you make an adapter for it?

Yes, it will work. All you need is an XS powerhead ( i know where a bunch of drop-ons are ) and a 300xs exhaust adapter plate. You already have the potatoes of the project- you just need the meat.

This caught my eye. So, you can drop a 300xs powerhead onto an existing 300x mid? I just cooked my 300x, and the fuel milage is way better with the XS. Where can I research this further? Interested!

Hey Adam .... I'm listening. Which cowl do you run? Can you modify a 300xs split lower housing to fit a 300 promax mid?

Hey Stephen! Cowl-X. Im not sure what you mean about your second question. Split lower housing? Do you mean the split lower skirt?

I'm guessing a cowl-x is a cutom cowl that fits the promax bowl? Yes could a guy notch or cut the split lower housing to fit a promax leg and use the 300xs cowl? Thanx Steve

Cowl X meant stock X cowl or promax cowl. you could use the 2 piece skirt from an XS since the X adapter plate has the " ring" to except the skirt gasket however some trimming would be required to the skirt and honestly would look pretty bad since the X exhaust housing is so fat and none of the lines would match up.
I just finished another 15" mid I built it for my 300XS . All new stock Merc parts w/ a Taylor exhaust housing. Nothing is cut or chopped. The 15" swivel bracket is from a 200XS ROS since it uses the same trim sender.

To anyone doing the conversion from an X to XS powerhead- make sure you pickup either a stock XS tuner or a DBR tuner.
I would not recommend cutting a stock XS tuner if you have a 15" mid... go with the DBR tuner.

10-4 on the look bad. So, a 300xs will fit under a 300 or 300x cowl?

Let's see some nice closeups of your 15" motors.
