Underwater Stern Lighting
Does anyone have lights off the stern for coloring the wake at night. I have never actually seen it but have heard about it from our mechanic. He recommends blue.
Can it be run with trim tabs. Any input would be appreciated. We do a fair amount of night boating and I was wondering if it was worthwhile.Swivomatically,

I have them and I sell them. This is a great design IMO and I had them on my boat for 6 years before I became a dealer. No big holes in he transom. The backside of the light has a unique channel that you fill with sealant creating a gasket and protecting your transom core. These are incredibly bright as well.
If you interested, post a pic of your transom and I can help you with layout.
Heres a link to the lights on my website:

There are plenty of companies out there now that make them, you can get single color and multi-color. The ones we put on boats down here have 8,000 colors, 10 effects and remote control.........

One word of warning. Do not go with the $30 TH marine/ebay ones. They are dim at best. TH marine also used pics from the ones I sell in their ads and it was quite the cluster F....

Mr Demeanor...just thought I'd mention that "Generation" is spelled "Genration" on the title of all three items on that link you posted.

Is there any instead drain plug?

Yes, they are extremely expensive and not very bright. One problem is the engine is right in front of the light and throws a big shadow. They just dont have enough room for enough LED's to work well. I am dealer for them but they are $300 each and I never even bothered listing them on the site. The company has a patent on the drain plug light so there really is not competition either.

You could probably get away with one of the double longs in the middle right in front of the motor but I would go with two of the singles at the very least. I have two of the double longs on the Fountain. We use them to raise fish when night fishing. During the summer we get a nice school of squid in the lights and make fresh Calamari
I have the green because they seem to attract fish/squid/shrimp a little better but the blue looks MUCH cooler.
You need matching LED's in the boat as well though

Do they make red ones

Red does not penetrate water very well. I believe there are some out there but they dont work as well even if they are as bright out of the water. I do have red LED's inside my fishing boat as red does not screw up your night vision.

Is it possible to over-do the lighting. Can a guy put too many lights underwater or is it like horsepower and money.
This would go on the back of a standard 1977 Hydrostream Vector.

A couple of the singles would suit you quite well. The doubles would be brighter but your not looking to bring fish to the back of the boat. Toyomirage (above) I beleive has a one of the double squares mounted right in the middle and its pretty bright. I would rather see a single on each side than one in the middle though. The spread out to the sides will be better with less shadow from the engine.
