Lightbulb 18 Allison xst opinions on motor rigging sought...

Bought an 82 18 xst ,had it spilt and rebuilt.

i think I want at new 175 pro xs...

Am I crazy or is that not enough motor?

the set up and prop are my main concerns... Speak your minds folks...

175 XS would be a good choice...the newer motors make very good power. I'd start with 10" of set back, and a round ear prop...Merc. Chopper Or Mazsco RE-3... and go from there. Quick Question, 15" or 20" Motor? Good Luck With Your Project. I've had a couple of them and really like the boats!

No, the 175XS is long only. You'll need a nose cone (voids warranty per the Merc guys I spoke to) or a Sporty. Most Ally's like more engine height than you'll get without a cone. But I bet you could run 80 with a stock 1785XS.

The low weight beast is the ROS 200XS from Mercury racing. 16 and 1/2 large, no warranty, but all the fun in the world - or so I've read.
