The rivets only hold the ring on and can be removed along with the ring.

Pulled the head off the bad cylinder today. Cylinder looks good.....piston not so much! Might not have overheated it after all...who knows. Its done either way!
Thinking maybe I should find another crank and fix this one for a spare.
That pic should answer any questions about whether my motor was really stock or not!13' Biel tunnel AKA "Flight Risk"

I'd cobble it together as a spare for sure. Doesn't take long to swap powerheads.

Heads are done and it will be in its way back here soon. Probably not much more will get done until late July unfortunately. The is my busiest time of year, I have a wedding in Illinois, and I need to get the balancing done.

Glad you guys noticed cause the FLywheel is much different!
Chris pull the pistons and check the wrist pins for slop. I just slid 3 pistons in a buddys old 90hp yamaha cause it had a strange noise on decel but it had a billion hours. The pin had a ton of slop in the piston, we slid 3 pistons in it through the front half and it solved the problem.
Slide a couple pistons in that one and run it till the real motor is done. The pistons are $56 bucks! I bet compression comes back

Flywheel is almost done thanks to Dagodiver (Mike). I didnt weigh it before he started but its 9.8 pounds now. Hard to see but he dished the top following the contour of the underside.

Gordon doesnt have my motor. He turned that thing around really fast. Its right here in my garage. I just have not have time to do much. I sold 400 flapoles on the last 4 weeks leading up to the 4th of July! About 100 of the stick anchors and lots of the other stuff as well. Now that the big 4th of July rush is over I should be able to get to work on it but I have 4 of my nieces/nephews coming in plus a wedding that I am in.
I have all the parts ordered, just waiting on some bearings.13' Biel tunnel AKA "Flight Risk"

nice job on the lighting of the flywheel
it is a shame you did not weigh it before starting on it so you could post the amount of reciprocating mass you eliminated
bet there is a few hours in it, looks great
