Called mertons for my order today. Should have a total price on all materials and supplies tomorrow before it ships. They want me to use their Hull and Deck putty to adhere the wetted out core to the hull. For you guys that have re-cored one of these boats, how did you lay up the core?

Also, we figured two layers of mat and a layer of 1708 will be plenty strong. Any tips?
Looking to get this thing going back together next week.

Materials and supplies have been shipped for a grand total of $570 and should be in Monday. I will post pictures of the cleaned hull this weekend.
11 yards of mat
6 yards of 1708
5 gallons of resin
2 gallons of hull and deck putty
6 sheets of core
misc. rollers, cans, cups, brushes, ect.
Hope to have some installation pictures coming next weekend. I can finally see the light!Last edited by Matts94z28; 06-12-2013 at 05:22 PM.

Looks like your Balling on a budget and doin a great job. The 4th is coming soon and I want to see that boat on the tail race. You will have yours done before I get mine back from Jack. I'm tempted to just rig the 260 on the V King so I can get out.
The evidence of poor quality lingers much longer than the success of meeting a budget.

I am very please with the money spent thus far. However, I will need to make another order to do the floor, but it will be small($200ish). The 4th is creeping up on me and I still have a lot to do! I keep forgetting about blueprinting the bottom, so I might miss that deadline by a week. I would be ready to knock the core out this coming week if I had time to mess with it over the last two weeks. I plan to put in about 6 hours this weekend.
The 260 on the vking sounds like fun. I may be out there this weekend with some friends on their checkmates and next weekend with a buddy and his Laser. Be sure to shoot me a PM when you plan on heading out.

I figured I would take the lower cowl off of the motor since it was a cool 69* when I got home from work around 11:45. Just thought I would snap a few pictures of a few things I will need to fix...
Two carbs not opening:
RTV around the head bolts and between the head and the block
Sweet awesome ballistic 25p prop

Slacked off today... only put about an hour of work into it... still don't have the stringer out.
Nice and soft!
The outer edge of where the core skin lays over towards the sponson area looked like this all the way from the transom to the bulk head! It was very hard to see and I had not noticed it until today.
Boy is the hull thin once you get the outer most layer of glass from the core off. You can see light through the gel from the under side.
After this I got side tracked and went to the lake for a few hours. Then I broke my other toy out of storage for the first time in 3 months.

Anyone ever get the stringer set up out in one piece? This is the last hurdle I have before I can begin the rebuild. It seems like I have good core under it because its planted. I can't really pry from the edges because I don't want to dimple the hull from the inside.
