2.5 200 hp fish motor cooling system 2 pc adapter. 2 143* thermostats, poppit valve cover inlet with 5/16 rubber hose coming down from the fitting on top of block, 4 rubber hose water diverters in the block as per Mercs 260 nic motors. Autometer 100*-250* water temp gauge and sender installed in port head casting hole under sparkplug #2, using sender to read head temperature, when using the sender to read water temp the needle on the gauge would only get to 125@ idle and when you planed out the boat the water temp would drop to around 100* there was very little needle movement trying to read water temperature.
Reading head temp instead of water temp you get 125* @ idle with stats open, under load and full speed the head temp is around 150*, stats open and close as needed. Water pressure @ idle 3 lbs, wide open with low water pickup 3/4 below pad 30 lbs.
    Lake water temperature 60*

Pretty much what I got other than the two T-Stats tied together running to the plate. Got any pix of that Lynn?

is it necessary for the left to go back to plate?? is this water used as preheated water for block or does it just dump out in mid? mine is routed starboard to port with tee in middle... down and straight out. not back to plate. was told this is fine but I want to get it absolutely correct.

    thanks

p.s. this thread has been a great read for a beginner like me

It just dumps in the mid, helps cool the water pump. If you're temp/pressure is good, and you're not melting water pumps, you're fine.

my pressure was good. didnt have t stats and H20 temp stayed way low. good water flow also. im going to install 143* 's and leave plumbing as is. hopefully that'll solve my overheating problem.

    thanks for the responses guys.

Uh oh.....I would think without stats, there would be almost no pressure, certainly none at low speed.

had some sort of washer in place of stats. 2-4lbs idle steadily increased with throttle up to 12ish @ WOT. i expect an increase in pressure throughout with t stats in. correct?

On my steel sleeve 2.0's early season I run t-stats, at high speeds they tick off 30-35 psi to 20 and back. When the water temp reaches mid 60's I put the washers back in.
