Have you checked the actual temp as opposed to your temp guage? I have a point and tell unit you are welcome to borrow.

Did you check to make sure you had a base gasket that has a hole in it for the poppet to dump through?

Im fighting the opposite battle. Have a 225 PM on a 1 piece plate and keep going from too high pressure to too low pressure with the changes. Trying to find a happy medium.

No I didn't but I think (key word there) the gaskets were for a 200 2.5..... I'm so far behind right now I won't be able to get to it for another couple weeks.

Kurt was dead on! Thanks again man! I've not run it on the water yet, just the hose but appears to be fixed.

Let us know how it does, that's technically the "wrong" base for the application. The 44292A3 is used in most all HP applications and is shared with the Mercruiser Alpha drive. That looks like a 42579A3 for a stock 200. Could be a very useful tool for "tuning" cooling systems.

    Well the adapter plates are "different" too.... 200 = 18260A2 & 18233A3 while a ProMax is 18260T5 & 18233A5........

I really hope this fixes this....

Not fixed.... It's better but pressure is still almost 20psi @ 5000rpm. Temp falls below 100 after I put it on plane. Probably going to have to pull the Powerhead

Me too Chris. I've sent a note to a guy on Allison owners... he's swapping to a 260 and needs a 1pc plate and it's going on a ProMax mid. Going to try to make a trade with him so I KNOW I have the right adapter plate.

Here's some food for thought.... would the fact that I'm dumping both thermostats out the cowl make any difference? Below 143* the T-stats are out of the picture but since the tell tale is off that line and T'd into the adapter plate where poppit water is channeled I'm thinking that once the poppit opens that is where your tell tale water comes from. This probably won't change much but thinking out loud and wondering....

Probably close to that but I didn't run it up to 90... wife & kid was with me. When I had it at 90 it was buried past 50psi.

    Still no water temp Pete.
