1987 xr2 150 only built for one year?

I can't really see where mercury's xr2 150 mag was made but for only one year, Does someone know why or maybe show me proof of those motors built before or after 1987

85-87, then became the XR4, and finally the XR6

The 2.4 Laser EFI was only called the "LASER 220 XRi" for two years. The later 2.4L "200 XRi was the same exact motor without the "dreamer" rating.

"XR" is not s specific model designation-- there was little in common between the 150XR2, the European "XR2" race motor, and the XRi EFI motors.

    My first boat had a 150 XR2.

This one's over my head, don't know how we got from an 87 XR2 outboard to a 97 jetski motor

Over your head and to the boat ramp I guess , cause we are still talking about mercury's xr history , the outboard motors that beat out all competition and
Pushed mercury racing away from Brunswick inc. To get the motors back on top

Oranges , Apples . That 175 powerhead on a prop lower would be called a 200.
