    Merc 225 2.5 promax question

    Hey Guys,

I am new to this forum and thought I would ask your opinion on my situation. I currently have a 225 2.5 Merc Promax with a Torque Master lower unit (lower unit has less than 15 hours on it)
When running the past weekend I blew my #4 Piston, my mechanic says I should find a motor that is easier to service i.e. find parts for... I know there is still some value in my motor but I am torn between sourcing another motor or just rebuilding mine.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated

    DB

225 Pro Max is no harder to work on than a 150,175 or 200 EFI. JMO. The problen may be the mechanic not the engine.

225PM is really just a very basic factory modified fishing motor... easy to work on and parts are easy to find...

hahaha Thanks guys, I will give Mike a call. Im having a buddy pick up my rig from the current shop that its at because I am headed off to Bristol for the weekend. I'll give him a shout about mid week next week to see if I can drop it off. Again guys I appreciate the input, my current mechanic made me feel like I had a piece of **** pushing my boat.

we are located in key largo fl. shipping for your motor will cost you 300$ round trip. we do promax motors all the time, we are doing three of them right now that were shipped in. all powerheads rebuilt here get fully serviced and machined in house, then installed on a test boat to be run before shipping back to the costumer. we offer stock and performance rebuilds. great price, warrantee, and service. quick turn around. give a call to talk about prices and options.
    thanks chris carson, ccms 800 329 2725.
