Yup, and a stock fishing motor minus limiter. The 2.4 was built to the hill, probably made what 280hp? and couldnt make more power with out spray. Modified 3.3 e-tecs are making almost double that with EFI and modern ignition. To say they are not quicker/ faster what are they running in the 1/4 these days

not sure if my comment was interpreted as I meant it. What my comment was meant to convey was that I was impressed with the 128, even listening to it bump the limiter all the way down the course. I'm betting 135+ was in it.

I was agreeing with you. Meaning Etecs modified like that 2.4 are running as fast as that 2.4 did but the etecs are doing it from a stop in the 1/4 mile.

Probably with less downtime and not that it's that important in a drag race application but better fuel economy.

Yeah, I wonder why those old records havent been broken?.......oh wait, they dont have record trials anymore in the US.....only an idiot would believe that everything is slower now.....over regulated? Yes.... the sl250 F1 etec had a limiter...definitely had a lot more in it.

Larry you guys showed me slower this year at the blarneys half tracked that e-tec mirage race boat, have any of you guys showed me different????You guys talked how fast you were so I went and set up a boat to destroy what all you guys had,now I am done,11 sec boats don't compete with 9 second boats in a 1/4,and as you stated in your video compare, well Joe must of had a super low compression drag wore out that day because his boat runs a 10 flat at the rope what does yours run?????

Im not quite sure if you are being sarcastic. can you elaborate on your point? its not a race motor on there its stock powerhead with a 6200 limiter. yes its 3.4 ltr compared to 2.4 but the fact it probably weighs 100lbs+ more would balance that out? and its the 250ho....not a souped up efi.

Phanto the point is it was a all out tunnel race boat vs a ski boat, take that race boat and put a stock 2.4 efi set up by deznuts and compare speeds and then show me how much faster new vs old would be????? Hey Phil its funny how the great white hope lives, but in the real world we know what does win...Keep up the great work guys,to me its easyier to buy whats been winnin for years...peace

I was not comparing it to anything? No one has ever said anything bad about mercs here. merely showcasing the advancement in epa motors.... or now people are seeing the potential in the omc motors..... that and they dont fancy throwing a rod through the cowl.

i would like to add this was 3 years ago and in very early test stages. from my understanding props were a problem as this was the first set up of its kind i believe?so 128 and on the limiter midway down a flying kilo means much more to come out.

Nobody cares about tuned 2.4 mercurys in this thread, it's completely irrelevant so go away. Are the E-TEC guys all over theads banging on about how great 2.4 Merc race motors are (or should I say were)? No! Brand loyalties on subjects like this are ridiculous, as is comparing apples to pears.

you are only allowed to use the apples /pears thing if you you are in favour of mercs and are losing an arguement. Please do not do it again;-)

Sorry boss!! It is funny how they either rip on 'Rudes for having extra displacement and not making enough power, or if they do make enough power use that displacement as an excuse... A good motor is a good motor no matter what name is on the cowl!
