It's also printed in the brochure and on the website. I'd find it hard to believe that after all of the class action lawsuits that various manufacturers have had to deal with over horsepower mis-statements that they'd be dumb enough to print something untrue.
As for the base engine it's a bit of a mystery. Yes the Marine LSA is rated at 530 HP but keep in mind that it's pretty much the same motor is in the Caddy CTS V and that one puts 556 HP to the ground. I suspect that they play with either the level of boost or other parameters in the base tune to get the HP they claim.

I had the pleasure of meeting with both Eric (son) and Rick (dad) Davis a few months back, to discuss possible government interest. Every question I had was answered fully and legitimately. I was pleasantly surprised with the prototype production unit's layout and engineering. The pieces are all shelf units with proven track records. Now if they can all play nice together time will tell. I have met with other "start-ups" in the past and these gentlemen seem to have their act together more than any others. I hope the future bids well for them.

I cant find anything that states it being propshaft horsepowerhttp://www.seven-marine.com/motors/specifications/ and I also dont see anything stating the caddy is rear wheel hosrepower and I have never seen a car advertising its rear wheel horsepower. The only thing I have found is caddy video and it dynoed 457 rwhp.http://youtu.be/SmnMDMm6Gao I know there are all kinds of things they can do to get more power but i really doubt they did as that was the original purpose of using that engine as it was already a proven package.

Generally speaking in round numbers... (4) 300XS @300hp or so each totals 1200 HP which equals mid 80 MPH speeds on a similar hull. So a pretty safe assumption is that a similar boat with (2) 557's doing 80 MPH should have at least 1100 HP. Again the math is fuzzy but I doubt that they are getting there with only 425 HP each (assuming 20% loss if 557 is CSHP).

The LSA in the CTS-V is making that power through a six speed slushbox, 3 goofy rubber mount U-Joints, rear end, CV shafts and 4 joints, full exhaust, factory manifolds, extremely forgiving timing, and 4 cats. 557hp in that trim with a conservative marine tune is a very believable number.

You covered it right there Jim. Not that I could ever afford one, but what gearhead wouldn't love this stuff. Whine/whistle whatever... Lockjaw, were you just whining about the whine? I like that part the best. If it aint whinning it aint making power.
Sounds great, looks good, last a long time??? We will see. Thanks for sharing in any case. I got wood.

I agree the motor has to be putting out somewhere around that to achieve those speeds. Also having 2 less big a$$ gearcase dragging thru the water is going to help with speed also. Ive just been curious about what HP they do really put out.

on the road is one thing, on the water seems to be another, the 60 series detroit at best in the commercial (ie trucking application) is at the high end 600 hp. in the marine application 800+. don't ask me why, probably something to do with resistance and reliability. road motors are exposed to far more nasty inhalents than clean air boat motors. fact
