No repairs here, I'm Building from the ground up!
hey every one.
new here, love boats, marine tech, boats are my life!
I design and build RC boats, from models of hi perf cats, monos, and hydros. i love it all, Been into RC for about 12 years now!
I ended up buying some special boats!, there STV pro comp boat hulls with both cowling molds
I am documenting my build of these boats,
first im starting with the 2 seater cowel.
buff wax, wax, more wax, and gel coat.
I have a full time job so this will be slow going,
I also completed a seat as well which will show photos
This is the "race cowling" mold i will be building using a hand lamination technique., HOWEVER
for the hull, and Deck and any other building after i will be using the VIP ( vacuum infusion process) method to build stronger and lighter hulls.

Here is the lamination being finished on the cowling mold and releasing it from the mold, as you can see a very good layup and a great gelcoat finish!

So these are or are not a splash of an STV? Trying to figure out if this is legit or not. Not trying to start a bunch of crap but we all know what we think of splashing...

Hey fellows, RBT is correct, they are not a splash, Drag hull and Pro comp deck and original Cowling molds,
I'm not sure if it the pro comp deck, or the pro comp ski deck. however the deck has the TALL windshield. so that would make it the pro comp ones correct?
Please no more conversation regarding Splashs, I have been on forums for many years and know what kind of havoc things can turn into.
Thanks!Last edited by STV Builder; 01-22-2013 at 02:20 AM.

the race cowling weighed in at about 35 Lbs. a little heavy but that is due to being a hand layup with the help of someone not too experienced.
the hulls will all be done without the human variable, once the lamination scheduled is followed all the cloth will be placed on the hull dry and then it will be infused with resin to eliminate ANY air, givea better Resin to fiber ratio and make it lighter and stronger.
So I am Aiming for a hull right near 650 Lbs.
and lighter is i can do a CF one, if some one wants to put up the money for that job!! LOL, with only 3 layers of CF the boay would be a Sub 400lb boat, i already worked it out pretty much. but it would be a easy $4500 in materials only
As for a price.. WELL I'm not even sure IF i can sell these as a "complete boat" or what, i haven't looked into it
However that being said.
I dont plan to go crazy making these things One for me, one for a buddy of mineLast edited by STV Builder; 01-23-2013 at 01:07 PM.

I have PALES of white gelcoat, so that is what i will be making everything in, No TWO-tone yet, i never saw the need for TWO-tone as i run a Graphic Shop and have a large format Roland printer, so i was going to just pattern the boat out and print off some custom boat vehicle wraps for these puppies.
