I do not. Last I heard it was out west pulling tubers Al called to give me crap the other day, saying he had that block in his shop Said it's owner tagged the pistons after trying to install 2.7 head gaskets on it.
I miss that boat. It was HUGE fun, ran very well and surprised many, many people. One of the earlier fast JohnRudes around.
Couple of notes on your pix's. #1. Notice the sticker on the front of the trailer? "Sunshine Syndicate".
#2. The last picture. Fogot about that. Was dead set on string steer but refused to cut up the boat to run it. Heated and bent PVC tubes to run the cables through the coamings and then ran the metal steering cables cable through teflon tubes (and secured them) inside the PVC to act as an anti-friction bearing. Worked perfect.
Also, notice the battery cables running on the floor under the forward bulkhead. Had a starting battery forward to balance the boat and a small motorcycle battery in the rear for 24 V's to trim for drag racing. Also had two 12 gl fuel tanks that were removable. Had a diverter valve to switch from tank to tank and or shut one off and remove it for racing. Rigged the boat to be able to move everything to balance it but the boat ran so good I never had to.
Forgot too that the red spots on the yellow powerhead was Mercury blood
Thanks for the memories Greg.Last edited by Instigator; 12-31-2012 at 08:36 PM.

How was the motor mounted on the boat? What size plate?

Rob, you're damn skippy!
NossBoss, 6". Here it is at speed. That project was proof that some times you just need to go your own way Vs what the "experts" tell you. Even w/that huge pig of a motor on there that thing was one of the best lake boats I ever owned. Always wanted to ski w/it but never did. Ran 101 in that video w/the prop 2" bellow the bottom. Wonder what it would have run 2" up like everyone else runs to get their speed That boat ran all over the mid west and Fla. Including spending most of it's time offshore in the Gulf of Mexico.
Here's a picture of it at anchor in the gulf, outside Cayo Costa Island.

Those sunshine syndicate stickers were still on the trailer when I sold the boat to the great white north! I haven't seen many pictures of that boat since it left my house, I wonder if it's still being run. Great group of guys came to pick it up. Felt really bad when they got in an accident a few miles from home and banged the boat up

Yep. I remember the pix's. How sad. The boys up north like their Streams. I almost had it sold to a different youngin up there before you bought it but they wanted partial delivery to the border and with what I had just been through in Fla disaster move attempt #1 it wasn't in the cards.

Forgot about that. As I recall (???) Skip egged me on to call and screw w/you after the fact. No idea why but he thought it was a good idea at the time And yeah, we celebrated. Spent most of the summer trying to bust a 100 and that thing fought me every step of the way. Bet I made 50 trips to the ramp and went 98/99 but would not show me a 100.
Had that trip planned and told Skip how cool I thought it'd be to do it while down visiting. Made one stinkin pass @ 99.9 Shorepounder and H2onut were the other two boats in the video and wanted to mess w/me but I had tunnel vision for one thing only. I did hear them both say after the fact that they had nothing for me. Skip was filming from the back of his Talon w/some killer music playing in other parts of the video but a friend edited it down to this clip for me.
We launched at Camp Mack and that video was shot at bull **** hill where everyone runs at the River Ranch rallies.
Remember seeing me at one of the Alligator Lake runs?? About burned the thing to the water line and was the only time that boat was ever towed in (by Skip w/your help). I had an issue I couldn't figure out until that trip and only did it when motor was tilted up near max and only once before. Both times I saw smoke coming from the cowling vents like I had a short but was nothing visible either time after pulling the cowling. When it happened at Alligator Lake I was putting the cowling on when I grabbed the steering cable for balance and it burned my hand! Ended up, w/the motor tilted up that far the steering cables went slack behind the coamings and made contact w/the control/switch panel by the shifter. It doesn't get much more direct ground than that.
Too bad too because cause AllisoonMan was pulling his lethal weapon out of the barn to whoop on me after I out ran one of their Mirages.
Just remembered too, I showed up the night before and slept in a lawn chair in the bed of my truck. Was going to come in the morning but Skip assured me the party would still be going strong when I got there. He was wrong. No sign of life when I rolled in
My buddy Barry Strawn woke me up the next morning w/a box of his wheels for me to try.
Good times back then my friend. Thanks for jogging my slipping memoryLast edited by Instigator; 01-01-2013 at 12:01 PM.

That was a nice boat. It even ran pretty well for a Hydrostream and definitely showed the hard work and commitment you have become known for.

That thing ran well! I'm guessing that's your Bridgeport motor mounted on there? I've always been envious of how well you got that motor to run.

That Vector has been around. I bought it in 1988 from a guy in Port Washington Wi with a hurt XS1500.
I sold it to a buddy that used it for 10? years as a ski boat with a 1989 115hp Merc 4 cylinder. Originally blue and then got some funky stripes and paint in the early 90s. I believe it was then sold to Troy Olson of Racine Extreme where he had a XR4 clamped on.. Then it was sold to Gator in the early 2000ish. And the rest is Chiquita Banana FrankinRude history.2006 Action Marine Comp
