Paint or Powdercoat?
Hello. I am thinking of cleaning up my mid section this winter. What will be a better looking finished product and stay looking better longer? Should I spray the mid with Imron or have it powder coated?
Thanks for the input,
John

Use Dupont Variprime conversion basecoat and Imron topcoat . Powdercoat is good but only if a Marine grade primer coat is used and a marinr grade top coat . Problem is you cant effectively touch up powdercoat like a paint system like Imron .JMHO

The touch up part may be true, but powder can be wet sanded and buffed out just like paint.. Most powders are over 1000 hrs sait tested and some even higher! A primer and top coat will last a very long time and most powders are more scratch resistant then most paints!! It will depend on who you have prep and paint/powder!! PREP is the KEY!!

I'm here Smokey!!! Well you already know my answer . But Tom got it correct both for the paint application and powder. A marine grade primer is required for marine applications as is a marine grade top coat. All of which I have in stock.
Regardless of what you choose if the components have been subjected to a salt environment a chemical wash and a through bake is in order prior to what ever coating you may choose.Bud Conner "Heathen" "Defending Our Constitution"
