Don't forget that is a very heavy 400 hung off the back of the SOB. A 400 must be 100lbs heavier than a 300XS I would think.

Agree, but that Laveycraft old school schedule is still holding a 400ROS in real rough water. The Laveycraft is actually 22'8" long.

The design spec (which used extensive simulation tech) specifically called for 300+hp motors to allow it to break the 100 mph barrier back then. That hull did 103mph and is noted in "The List". In 2010 Bernico made it commercially available to the public ski race market and it went on to win a ton of races. I believe that mariawhitetrash here bought the 103mph hull and then raced it over a few years. Not ski race, but ocean racing where that front step design works big time. I think he initially used a 200hp motor. Both he and 28Skater are extremely familiar with the step design but IMO I can see where you drop that fat bow in rough water and it eats chop with a ballast tank. If the water is flat, the bow is out of it completely and it runs 100mph with a stock 300XS.........well 98.1 actually.
Greg you are correct the F-2 Bernico bottom was changed in 2008 to adjust C.G when our Rules changed from 2.5 to 300xs. 6.5 metor 21' 4".

Yes the front step is definitely helpful when Ballast is full to keep speeds up in the rough. A little tricky in the corners Don't trim in to much
or she will catch on the step. Mine went to the Indian Ocean last Year.

The lavey started with a 2.5 then Verado 350 and now 400. Its not F-2 legal but they can run age group and Catalina. We run together often.

The Velocity has a couple small steps up front on the keel and the outer spray rail. This helps keep it a dry ride when rough in the corners.
The Ballast tank is just in front of fuel tank and corners with Ballast much better.

Out In Parker Skiing and testing props and Engine heights. Ran 92 today with box stock 28 Trophy

Yes just me 25 Gal Gas raised the engine 1/4" and gained 2 mph. We can run level to pad but running 1 1/4 below gives more lift with Weight of observer and drag from skier.

I plan to beat my best of 94mph with 32 Bravo. I am testing a 30 Promax cut to 13 3/4" tomorrow.

Does anyone know how to use the performance recall on a vessel view 7. I will try and get some photos.

28SkaterCa., is there an Aus Force being run here? Saw a pic of a red hull running in the Enduro by a guy named John Lynch that looked like one.

Good luck with your speed testing, be safe. Your boat (http://www.racemarine.com.au/velocity/) looks really good and I bet you have 100mph in your future.
