I think some engines dont have this hose? Maybe I should block some water here to make up for the 2 drain holes in the adapter.
I think that bypass hose exits through a 1/8" hole in the block into the poppet chamber. I wouldn't knock myself out to add one, I've run tests with and without and the difference is minor. It lowers pressure slightly and cools it a few degrees. It's main purpose seemed to be to eliminate steam pockets in the rear divider. They first used it on the later 2.4 to stop burning up that giant water cooled regulator mounted in the rear divider.

Do you have a 2 bolt or 4 bolt poppet cover?

Kinda wonder how much we gotta worry about tuner cooling. There's a whole lotta dry stacked motors in this world.

    I have a 4 bolt poppet cover.

Yes you are right about the dry stacking. Only benefit is that it might prevent the mist in the housing and make it quieter.

Might start engine at the hose thursday. Let it run at idle up to max temp and than close t stat dump.

Whats the best spot on the block to take temp with IR gun?

Ok I let the engine idling at the hose today. Ran about 1250 RPM in neutral.

Water temp at the water tap outlet: 67 F

    Cylinder temps SB side:
    1: 125F
    3: 135F
    5: 125F

    Cylinder temps P side:
    2: 110F
    4: 120F
    6: 120F

    Water temp SB side: 111F
    Water temp P side: 97P
This is just the temp of the water the passes the bleed hole in the stats.

Afterwards I closed the bleed holes of the stats. I did not notice any change in the temperature.

Do you think closing the drains and redrill the drain would make up the difference?

I think the bleed holes of stats would be about te same size as the drains in the adapter. Since this doesnt make any difference in the temperature im not realy convinced It would make a lot of difference.

Also I checked for the popet water hitting the boss. I does hit It. You say not but did you check a 2.5 offshore Mid? On my 2.4 Mid this is not a big issue. Have the Idea the boss for 2.5 is beefier.

You've still two 1/8" holes in the adapter that can pass a lot of water. I'd prefer to see you close them and drill the intake passage like you illustrated. I don't think the stat bleeds are anywhere near 1/8.

And yes, the 2.5 offshore casting is likely thicker.

Would realy like to see a picture of the 200xs adapter and base plate. It's a popet motor that comes on a 1 piece adapter. I'm having all This trouble while the solution exists. Just cant get the info i need.

Should have gone this route. Check pic of the base plate.
In this case you can just leave the 4 holes in the exhaust adapter and cool tuner and waterpump properly.

I prefer to not drill in the adapter plate. I took two bolts and drilled a 1,5mm hole in it (approx 1/16). I had a drill bit of 1,25mm at first but it broke off.

Going from 2,8 to 1,5mm is about a reduction of 3/4 of the water than can escape through the drains.

Just check baseplate. Actualy It seems like the 200xs has a modified baseplate and nothing more To make a poppet motor work on a 1 piece plate.
