    Another Vintage Molinari being Saved

This Marathon Molinari was in desperate need of repair, and would soon have been rotted beyond repair. A late life blow-over didn't help the aging rear section of the boat either. If anyone can save it .... Gary Pugh is on the job!

This is a huge tunnel hull at 19 feet, but with a rather narrow tunnel (43"). About 2" of lift with a deep tunnel and considerable wall angle. Not sure what this hull had for power "in the day".

The low rear cowl dates it to mid 70s. That would make it a CCC or RS OMC boat. It would be interesting to know if it was piloted by Renato. I do not remember his number but unless somebody was playing with lettering on it later it is unlikely his name would have been on something he didnt drive. Its a shame somebody cut up the rear deck to make it a 2 seater.

Renato normally used 165 as his race number..in Paris Six hours and some other races you where forced to use a different race number.
    1983 and later Renato used # 18 for his Martini-Evinrude F1-v8

Renato Molinari won the first ever F1-V8 race in Germany 1981

Hey Roger, you need to find someone to come get the Veldens. They've been sitting here way too long....

Re Moli: Original color was red. Current owner believes this was one of Renato's marathon boats. Not sure who did the 2-seat deal.

Joe: Yah, I know. Steve would take them, but got consumed with two other project boats and has no room. Would either of them make a Mod 50 boat or taake my Merc 1250 stacker project motor?

I don't see why the stacker wouldn't work on it. Bring a trailer and a bottle of Lagavulin and they are yours.
