If memory serves me correct... The lip was removed on the smaller hp boats (promax) to help with bow lift.(chummy told me so... ). I think a little stern lift would probably help me with the upgrade in power over the promax. I wish I was close to wally... I think I would try and coerce him into putting it back on mine. You can see on my pad that some work has been done to it. Foxtrot do you have some history on that?

In that case, with mine being an open bow it would make sense not to have it. So anyone have any pics of this so called lip?

The story I heard (not from Wally and not from folks that I would consider Boating Professionals) was the stock pad had a smooth finish just like the rest of the bottom. For the folks running modified Promax’s, 260’s or 280, the pad was rough sanded to break up the surface tension of the water. Some of the more experienced drivers in the area claimed the after they went back to Wally’s and had the bottom rough sanded, it made a noticeable improvement in the boats performance.
<O</OJohn was the original owner of my boat and it was rigged with a 260.

The bottom was already sanded when I purchased it, so I didn’t get to drive a before and after.
