I am using those. The problem is that the holes in the jack plate is different than those. Those are just like the engine. Now do I drill out the 1/8" that is missing or do I leave it alone? The picture below shows what I am talking about.

I only have 4 bolts per engine to the jack plate and 4 bolts from the jack plate to the brackets.

Do you use the special V8 bolts, regular SS, or the 316 Bolts?

I think I'm good with the 4 I have between the engine and the jackplate but 2 more sure won't hurt. I have 6 between the jack plate and the bracket and 22 total between the bracket and the boat. The ones for the engine is a mix of the original V8 bolt and the rest are all SS316.

When I had my Stoker I ran grade 8 cad plated bolts because they are way stronger. Never had any rust issues but I only ran in fresh water.

I believe the old V8 bolts are 17-4 PH Stainless... Tensile strength on them is 135 to 140,000 psi, which is twice what 316 Stainless is.

http://www.mmsacc-stainless.com/html...ngth_bolts.htm was one place... I know Mcmaster is limited in length. You would have to search around on the web. I've also heard of runnning up to ten bolts in a V8 clamp bracket. Two in each of the 4 typical locations and 2 in the blind holes. That was in ole offshore race days, as the brackets are/were a weak point. Thats seems like a lot of overkill.

Agreed...you're overthinking it. The bolt isn't going to stretch or break...why have to search for something 5x what you need? I've had the same 316 bolts on my motors for 6 years with no issues.

The old V8 bolts are 17-4, but I think a good replacement would be the high-strength SS bolts ARP has in their catalogue. I plan on using these when I put my single V8 on my setback/21 Scarab.

Monty called last night, the last powerhead is complete and ready for pick up. I will head over there on Friday to pick them up. Something tells me it will be a long weekend.....

The weekend was longer than expected with a NyQuil diet and flat out. However, I fired up the old truck today and headed over to Monty. Picked up my powerheads and boxes of extra parts and then got a tour of the new shop and the record attempt dinghy. Very very very impressive and I can't wait to see mine all mounted up and Monty hanging on the transom tuning them as well as seeing the record attempt boat being set up and tested. I also think I might take a break from it all and go to TN so watch some of the boats he has worked on in action up there. Lots and lots of good times ahead here.....
