little bit of a sensor issue with the megasquirt but going to Hall solved this
it also running in the rev limit here as i forgot to change that when uploading a new code version
    <iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6txy0P4kIRw" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="480" width="640"></iframe>

the new MS3 should is able to do V8 two stroke according the ms developers sequentieel ignition and injection
and i,m pretty happy with lamda and EGT on my boat

    <iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/5xOOJ5w26MM?list=UUhoyU9hvx6mN4DHeMuBGWVg&hl=nl_NL" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" width="560"></iframe>

a shame i still have that ignition issue with the mercury stuff
at the moment running a mercury ignition and brucato unit for some data logging

next year time for the DTAS80

    <iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/WHXl9hI1bj4" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="480" width="853"></iframe>

to come back to the original quistion it,s not that hard just time consuming
    making sure for no mistakes
and some extensive data collection stuff

I don't know where on the V8 i could put the wide band O2 and not have it get wet. The other thing is how long are they going to last with the oil from the motor i know leaded gas eats them quick but i have no idea about oil.

I think i could get one running it is just a money and time issue. I don't know where the best place to put the injector on the V8 is. Behind the reed or just behind the carb.

EGT probes through the head studs into the exhaust ports would be the best way to monitor and tune.

Yeah EGT is good but having wide band O2 is even faster and without a base tune to work from would be safer.

engine,s are a 2.5 liter promax ,s one behind the boat at the time

you should have both egt and lamda
    http://www.aim-sportline.com/downloa...ne_tck_eng.pdf

you don,t necessairly have to put it in the exhaust stream you can work with a spy hole to an bung inside the cowling
the same as the yamaha ox motors as long as it is air tight
whe were throwing some ideas around on msextra about the V8
    http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewto...p?f=94&t=42869

Due to Monty's little health issue the project suffered a slight little setback in time. However, I just talked to him and he is doing much better and is working in the power heads.

Good to hear that he is doing better i did not know he was sick. It would be a real shame if he could not do what he loves.

If you know the actual GPS speed you ran with different power, you can put your total weight, HP and speed in to calculate your "hull factor"

Then put in the "new" HP, and erase the old speed to calculate the theoretical speed you would get with the new HP.

Its only as accurate as the numbers you input.
We've used it on a few repowers and its normally pretty spot on.

Some numbers from some of the other 34 Scarabs I've seen with people on my forum. (and they vary quite a bit)
here is one that runs 60 with twin 250's http://www.propgods.com/forum/defaul...g=posts&t=1746
here is one that runs 50 with twin 250's http://www.propgods.com/forum/defaul...g=posts&t=1109
here is one that runs 47 with twin 275's http://www.propgods.com/forum/defaul...?g=posts&t=994

you said the hull weight was 5100 lbs. lets say with fuel people and motors its 8000 lbs. (play with the calculator and see the different results)
lets go with the guy claiming 60 MPH with 250's
That would give a hull factor of "240"
putting 900 HP on there, would give a top speed of 80.5 MPH

If you hit 80, I'd be impressed. I hope it goes 88, but I have a feeling it may be a little short of that.
That calculator is pretty impressive! I plugged in my numbers (I guessed 1500 pounds and guessed 200 on my hull factor) It came out at 79.2 mph. I average about 80mph +/- 2mph depending upon the wheel. I always wondered what a 300XS would do according to the calculator. According to it the speed would range from 95 to 102. The 102 is if I adjust my hull factor to 215 to match my best ever speed of 84.7mph. I really don't know what my hull weighs. Interesting.

I plugged in my numbers from my old G-Force 260 that was ported , spacer ect. My best speed was just over 94mph, that calculates to 295hp or so. I was told it had about 300hp. cool stuff.

One powerhead picked up today, two to go.... Monty is in good spirit and the project is moving forward again. Midsections are done, gearboxes are done, a few fittings to go with the steering. Life is good.....
