I used my boat at 7000# on the calculator, and needed to use a "hull factor" of 225 to get the speeds right. Kim, see what it comes out with your factors and 225 for "hull factor".
I also subtracted 11% from my engine dyno hp to account for prop shaft output.Keith-

I wish I knew the weight of my action (no lightweight) because I gained around 16+mph going from stock stock 225 to a ported motor that made 312 on monty's dyno (now Sam's). Only thing that was changed was the powerhead, same prop, same boat, same weight, same conditions, same lake, same heat, same engine height etc....

No fuel injection going on here...way outside the budget.

I have been talking with monty about doing mega squirt to try and put togather a package that is not crazy expensive.
http://www.megasquirt.info/
I have ran there stuff before it works really well for the person that wants to build a full system. But i have only ran it on cars with EGT and wide band with a base map to start tuning on with a dyno. Seeing we can only really get EGT on these V8's and i have no dyno to run the boat out i think i could hurt a motor before getting it setup right.

with EGT probes through rifled head studs into the exhaust ports should keep you from hurting it. Well the v8s do have a bridge which might change the reading a bit, monty would know. I'd be interested in tuning with a lap top instead of a stupid lil box with a couple buttons on it (SDS).

If one of us could get one going with a cheaper non race ecu it would be nice because then we would have base maps others could build wild motors off of. I think i am going to go this way but with the wife in school i don't know if the budget will allow for it. I know my motor has a never ran as good as it should but i have never been able to find the issue and just putting parts on it until i find it just seems dumb. With a standalone ecu i can data log as i run and have a lot more information to go on other then the plugs look good.

Going back Brucato was working on a system that looked real good. I believe he had the setup running on his boat - not a V8. Someone in S&F has already implemented an injected V8 and could help out. In u-tube there is a MoTeC system running on a V8 already. Mega Squirt looks like a very cost effective homemade system, but it is going to require lots of work to integrate and make it work. What would be great, I think is a self tune system like FAST (Fuel Air Spark Tech). I do not know if it can be done without A/F metering.

A complete bolt on system that takes care of fuel and spark would be very nice on the V8's. However, there just isn't a big enough market for it so I think I'm stuck with the old carbs and stock ignition system.
