I got the boat in the water but not a whole lot of luck with the engines. One was not even interested in firing, one fired but didn't cool and didn't stop, the third one started but ran rough and stopped a few times while we made our way home. Any ideas? I have a few and will check in to it today but any good advice from you experts is highly appreciated.

Another question is, will solid mounts make the hull vibrate so that all screws eventually will work their way out?

Bolts are available from BRP for $9.76 -332530 nut-313623 listed for 1990 300 at least for boat to jackplate, will be a bit long for motor to jackplate though.

3 times the vibration, yes check your spark, packs are the biggest issue

No start - check for spark. If spark is good, check that the primer is working on all 8. Make sure the primer sends fuel to the 8 nipples, and verify that none of the nipples are clogged (get a piece of hose and try to blow through them with your mouth).

No cooling/no stop - Did you have water out of the tattle tale? Still have the diverter valve on those motors? Are you monitoring water pressure, and if so, where? Did you have water pressure? Didn't stop - power pack wiring not correct?

Rough running - did you verify spark on all 8? Did it run on 4 like the shift interrupt was working all the time?

I will dig in to it when I get off work. The non running one I suspect has wiring issues on the main harness. The non cooling one has zero water coming up so I'll have to pull the pump and check. The running one is suspect has power pack issues but I have a few spares and will check more. It seem like it's sporadic and that it runs just fine in neutral. It's almost there I know but this is still frustrating.....

Check that inline fuse in the harness, near the starter.

I sure will. Is that from the battery post to the packs?

Main power to the harness I believe.

I just have to say, that's a whole lot more plugs to read/replace, carbs to clean/sync, jets to tune, coil/power packs/stators/triggers/rectifiers to test, and so on than I would be willing to deal with.

Hats off to you, Sir. .

Fuse will have no effect on spark, it won't crank if fuse is blown.

I was thinking the same thing. I would have to just have them set up on a dyno so I could bolt em up and go.

A dyno setup wouldn't help one iota in this case. It's the wiring on the boat I think. I'll get to the bottom of it before the week is over. Was hoping for some cooler temps but guess I'll continue my weight loss program.....
