Optimax in guardian mode after dead battery
05 250 xs.
Used the boat all last week. Worked perfect. After sitting for a week I went to start it and the battery was dead. It was a 6 year old battery so I replaced it with a new one. Now the motor is operating at reduced power. No tones and the voltage meter shows a charge. Whats the problem here?'72 Glastron GT-150 Johnson Stinger 65

Voltage meter shows a little over 14 when running. Belt and tensioner looked fine. I'll clean the connections tomorrow but they didn't look too bad.

I'm assuming it is in guardian mode. It hardly comes on plane now .

Yes the new one is. The old one was a deep cycle.

Nuts on the battery terminals, not wing nuts?
Odd the battery drained - possible something was left on in the boat?
Do you know how to get it out of guardian mode? I'm headed to the shop this afternoon, have access to Service manuals. No cell coverage there, but I'll take my laptop... . I don't work on many Optis, and to my knowledge we don't service an Opti over 135...

The new battery has nuts. I think the old battery was just going bad. It was a 2007 battery.
I'm starting to think this isn't in guardian mode but I have something else going on. There are no beeps and it will still rev over 4000 but its just severely down on power.
I need to buy a ddt scanner.'72 Glastron GT-150 Johnson Stinger 65

I figured it out. I have a bad spark plug. I pulled power to the coils until I found a dead cyl. The switched that plug to a different cyl and then that cyl died. Tested the plug and spark won't jump the gap. The plug looks fine and is gapped right but no spark. Weird. No one around here has the plugs. Oh well at least I have a backup hydrostream to use this weekend.

weird stuff happens. I had a 225 pro xs two weeks ago down on power would not plane for a while. did not seem to be missing. did a drop test on each cylinder thank goodness for the graph that CDI supplies with the meds software. would drop on 1-2-3-6 perfect pattern looked like an ekg readout then 4 and 5 would have two spikes at the start of the drop test and then flatline. had to replace two bad air injectors and then drain the air side of fuel getting in from the bad injectors. picked up 7 mph and hole shot like crazy. you could tell if you listened that the cylinder drops were not the same on cylinder 4 and 5 but the graph showed it for sure. You would not have been able to repair the motor if it had not been for the diagnostic equipment.
