Question 1978 Baja 20ss has been painted with laquer?

I recently bought a 78 Baja 20ss with an Evenrude 225 v6. It was close to sunset when I test drove her and didn't notice until the next morning that the boat had been laquered from end to end. Badly. runs, drips, brush strokes... what would be the best way to remove this laquer?

By the way, is there a name for this boat or is that just a 20ss? It's super fast (65mph very easily) and I'd never seen one before this.

Laquer and fiberglas don't mix from what I understand. Are you sure it's laquer?

Later models would bear the name "Sport."

I used to own a Sport 170... under the bow, "170ss" was marked in the bulkhead under the glass as its model number.
