I can't wait to see a finished product. I am coming along with my Midnight express. I had it out last weekend on the Winter Haven Chain of lakes.

Got some work done last weekend. Pulled the starboard powerhead and replaced the studs with longer studs and new stainless nuts and washers. I also mounted my new Eagle One 260 style cowls. My trim pumps are wired up and installed...just need to run power to them, fill them with fluid and bleed the system....

Made some good progress this past sunday and monday. Both motors are completely rigged and hooked up. New fuel lines have been installed with new primer bulbs. New batteries installed. All the rigging in the bilge has been tie wrapped, straightened and cleaned up. Trim tabs and pump hooked up and working. Port side bolster shell is finished and waiting to be rewrapped in the original vinyl. Filled her up with 40 gallons of 93 octane and Penzoil full synthetic. Fired up the portside motor for the first time after sitting in storage for years!!
    Left to do:
    1) Install fuel pump on starboard motor.
    2) Run power to both trim pumps.
    3) Fill, bleed and pressurize hyd. steering system.
    4) Install water pressure fitting to port motor.
    5) Fire up starboard motor.
    6) Find some props and GO BOATING!!

Your gonna need it, I run 60 gallons, and go through it faster than I can empty the cooler.

I can attest from experience..3 litre motors are alot more thirsty than the 2.4/2.5's. My old Pulsare/Merc 225xri drank gas like a redneck in a beer barn!! Hopefully the twin 2.4's on the 28 won't be too bad at cruising....

Finally, after almost 5 months of collecting parts and wrench turning, my 2800 hit the water this afternoon. Still have to chase down some gremlins and dial things in but the boat felt pretty good. Ran a pair of 15" diameter, 24 pitch 4 blades up to about 6000 rpm..boat was very responsive to trim and handled great..have some issues with the starboard motor stalling at less than 2000 rpm that will need to be addressed...I'm going to have Nicks Creative Marine install some reeds and dyno/tune both motors...here's a dock shot:

Here's a quick cell phone video shot by my wife:

Awesome stuff Sir and congrats! I know the feeling of all the money/time before getting to the water.
    Can't wait to see it.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.
