Clayton NY, Vintage Regatta Aug. 16th - 19th
Would like to invite anyone interested in joining us with their vintage outboards (large or small - there are two V&H classifications). Here's a couple of pictures of Steve Larkin with his Velden and me with my Molinari at Tavares this March. Looks like we will have a record number of the APBA Group B Vintage & Historic boats at this event. Come and display your boat....but better yet, come run with us at Clayton. We get the early morning heats to avoid the rougher water conditions once the pleasure boats wake up. Give me a call if you have any questions about how to enter an event like this. Come see some Switzer wings, Molinari's Velden and Seebolds. I don't want to leave out the V-hull boats, as they are well represented also.
Regards,
Roger Hinsdale

06-01-2012, 06:33 PM #3I plan to be there also
Ken you will like running the tunnel up there wont beat you up as bad as with the little twister.
Someone needs to get with who is in charge of the boat class times.
The last time i was there the outboards got very little time on the water.
As Roger said there a lot more outboards every year.
Seems like everything revolves around the larger boats and hydros.
I was the last to be put in and was told time was up and i could not run.
They did let me run but only two laps.
Cant wait it is always a great time.

I look forward to seeing you there. Dave Richards is doing the Clayton event this year and is supporting the outboard cause very well. You can be assured that the outboards will get the first heat slots, but that means early (7:30) driver's meetings and first heats go out at 8:00, or as close as they can manage. Two years ago we got a ton of laps, but the water was on the lumpy side. Give me a call if you have any concerns 423-452-0428.....Roger

A new requirement this year for ALL APBA Vintage & Historic classes is a physical every two years. You need to bring a copy of the form to each race. The APBA V&H site has details but here is the link to the PDF file you can print and have you Doc sign.
http://www.vintagehydroplanes.com/vi..._form_2011.pdf
Just to be sure, they will be looking for drivers suits (long sleeves, long pants, and closed toe shoes), helmets of specific colors, and A-100 rated life vests. Don't skimp on your safety equipment please.
This link has the details you need to participate: http://www.vintagehydroplanes.com/vi..._division.html

Here's the next Tiger project. I just acquired this in May, it's next in line after the Strangler/Seebold and the Mod 50. It will probably get my 1975 1500 J, which will vacate the Viper transom to make room for a period-correct V6 2.4L Formula engine. This Baja will make a nice addition to our little (but growing!) Vintage Outboard contingent. Will it be on the water in 2013? Time will tell...
